I'm an atheist and it looks like I have read more of the bible than you have. At least the old testament. Go ahead and read Exodus and Leviticus. See how many of those rules you would be willing to follow today. (Can't remember right now and I don't have a copy handy, but were Deuteronomy and Numbers full of rules and laws, too?)
Atheists don't have any problem with some of the laws of the bible. We believe they were determined by people anyway, not by God. I'm all in favor of six of the ten commandments. Our civil and criminal law codes today are what we go by, in any case, so what difference does it make what anyone feels about biblical laws?
As far as hating scriptures, I don't. I just don't think they are the word of God. Some of the stories are good moral lessons and some are funny. Job is a hoot.

First off, atheists and gays? We are not one in the same.
Secondly, you are not supposed to judge...
Lastly, I am an atheist, and I am against the Bible because of what it does to people. Some people use it to better themselves, but most use it as a soapbox. They lecture and judge, much like you have done. The Bible is very flawed, it has many inconsistencies and contradictions. There are still rules that atheists live by, but they are individually based. I am a moral person and a good wife. I don't need an outdated book to dole out rules.

Do u know who is an Atheist.?
I guess not. Atheist are class of people who dont believe in things blindly. They simply question those blind stuffs. Godmen or religionists are many times turn out to be hypocrites and they are just power crazy and many times mislead ignorant mass.
Atheist just feel its plain waste of time to read scriptures, they would rather read something which is practical and useful to life.
I am not supporting Athiests or shallow thinkers or narrow minded religionist but certainly like to spread Love to all of humanity.

I am an atheist and I do not hate scripture. I do not follow scripture because I do not believe it proscribes appropriate behavior.
Do you hate Little Red Riding Hood? Do you hate it because you really know that wolves can talk and dress like grandma, but you don't want to believe it?

I think you missed to some religions in your post. I'm a High Priestess of Wicca. And I don't hate anyone or anything. But I refuse to follow the "laws". A bunch of people decided to write down some laws and claimed they were from God?? ok?
Your God is a young god..my God and Goddess has been around for ages. I got books too.
But all in all freedom of religion is a beutiful thing.

This is the kind of thing that Christians tell each other about atheists, in order to make themselves feel superior, and to make it unnecessary to think about what atheists really think.
I think the Bible is myth. I think you have been fooled into thinking that the legends of ancient people are real. You believe that there is a schizophrenic deity who create humans just so that he could sort them into "good" and "bad". Furthermore, you believe he will get his jollies by torturing the bad ones for eternity. Furthermore, you believe that he defines "bad" as "not believing in him", even though there is no reliable evidence of his existence in modern times.
The ancient people who came up with these insane legends and myths didn't even understand that the lights in the nighttime sky are distant suns and galaxies. They didn't understand that humans have existed for a couple hundred thousand years -- far far longer than their legends claim, yet a remarkably brief time compared to the reign of the dinosaurs.
To the extent that I "hate" scriptures, it is because they have been so successful in making a large portion of mankind ignorant and bigoted. I feel sorry for you that you are trapped in your delusion.

You know this is a fun question.
Not only do I get 2 points for my reply. But I also get to report another Xtian spammer who cannot, will not, or chooses not, to follow the rules here.
Remember all Xtians, "Give unto Caesar what is Caesar's". In other words, follow the rules.

Atheists generally do not hate like christians so easily do. I love to read and learn, so I like the scriptures. However, the viciousness of the protagonist of the bible is more than I need to realize that he is no god at all!

Nope. I don't hate scripture. I find it to be flawed, and therefore, not useful as a guide for ordering my life.
As for the rules I don't want to follow, yes, I do have issue with stoning people who don't attend church or children who misbehave.
