i'm only 15, but Ive had this small thing on my right shoulder for a reeeeaaaally long time. Its not red, or blue or anything; It's the same color as my skin. Its smaller than the head of a pencil eraser, perfectly round, and its smooth. I've never worried about it seriously, until about a week ago, when I read an article in a magizine about skin cancer. Even then I wouldn't have worried about it, becuase It didn't really match any of the symptoms, exsept one. It did beed once about 2 1/2 yers ago. And it said bleeding was a big sign. It's not like it itches, or bleeds all the time or anything, nor does it ever hurt. And Im pretty sure I have no history of skin cancer in my family. one of my uncles died from cancer, but it wasn't skin. I don't know, what do you think? And please try and say something other than," go have it checked out". Because I currently have no insurence. Thanks :]

I am glad I can be of some help. I am 15 as well. Since you are only a minor, no hospital can deny you of proper medical care/treatment. Have your parent, or whomever is taking care of you, bring you to the emergency room. There, you can apply for charity care, or whatever it is called, and have it checked out. I have had a mole before, and the doctor checked it for cancer, and burned it (removed it). It turned out to be cancer. What you have might not seem to be much of a problem now, but wait any longer and it might turn into something nasty. God Bless and hope everything works out.

It sounds like a wart to me. I had one and if you scratch it or hit it, it can cause it to bleed. Skin cancer is possible with any spot that changes shapes or colors, has a very irregular border, looks like a pimple but is open and never heals, a red spot that itches, or a mole that changes rapidly. There are several types of skin cancer, and all but melanomas are very easy to treat. For more information you can go to www.webmd.com and find all you could ever want to know about skin cancer. Yours sounds to me like a very harmless wart. You can always have your doctor check it to put you mind at ease.

Okay, I SERIOUSLY doubt anyone can correctly answer your question, much less diagnose you with or without skin cancer.

If it is oddly shaped and NOT symmetrical like a circle, and bleeds or hurts, it may be cancer.

Since you say it's perfectly round, have you considered the fact that it might be a birthmark?

And I think that one of the signs of cancer is losing a lot of weight very fast, and simply feeling ill.
So, drop a few pounds lately? No? Then you're okay.

If your still worried, talk to someone.

Well, depending on what kind of a mark it is, possibly bumping it or irritating it might cause it to bleed, but if it hasn't happened in 2.5 years and no other marks have appeared, I wouldn't necessarily jump at the idea that you've got cancer. I would try taking out a book at the library and look at the different types of pimples/moles and seeing how they look compared to yours.

Why would you break up with him? You said he's your absolute everything. Just because he has cancer isn't going to change what yall have. I think you should stay together with him. Just like everyone said "He's going to need you now more than ever." I understand you're heartbroken, but you have to be strong for him. I wish not only him but you as well the best of luck. :)

My mom had skin cancer and didn't know it for 3 years. The color was peachish brownish. She had it removed 5 years ago and still sees a dermatologist today to see if it has spread, and it hasn't because it was diagnosed early. If you think your mole is skin cancer, watch it to see if it changes color, or gets bigger. If you already know it has changed color or size, it is skin cancer. Go tell your parents to have it removed.

Call some dermatologist, i know some offices have free sin cancer checks, esp. during summer. There are a few in my town right now so check into this, Its probably nothing but it will ease your mind. If it is then its early and all they have to do is remove it. Most all dr will set up payment plan, or if you are eligible you can get medicad.
