Chuck, no they are having protests and hunger strikes for the Dream Act. That they are doing this on the 4th of July is not going to help their cause.
These people need better advisors.

Top contributor - if he committed a massacre of a family and raped a 14 year old girl, I think he SHOULD get the death penalty.

Lots more of our products should be American made by law. Australia does this. You must buy Australia first to help support the countries economy, and Australia businesses. If you can't find it - then and only then can one buy outside the country.
Note: I find it amusing that TOP CONTRIBUTOR is trying to pass themself off as a Top Contributor. Beings they started account July 3rd, 2007 Any chance it's Machoman again. lol

I think that's great! Our own flags should be made in the USA it's a national symbol of our independance as a nation and the freedom it represents. For other countries to mass produce it feeling that it means nothing would be almost plagiarism. One thing we could do for sure is buy American products, I try to myself. Yeah, for the states for passing this!

I think this is the perfect place to start bringing American products back to being produced in America. The American Flag is a very personal symbol of freedom for our country. It should always be made on American soil.
God Bless America!

I'll second that! Recently, I got an official fancy leather bookmark used by the Supreme Court of the United States. It too was made in China. Very sad.

Given that the flag is a symbol of America, I think flags made in China could symbolize that America has sold herself. I applaud the writer of this law.

I think it is a great idea. I personally do wish they wouldn't make so much clothing with the US flag on it. I saw a chubby guy wearing a speedo with the US flag print on it. I was horrified. Not a good look...(it was overseas and I don't think he was American)

Very interesting concept. Do you think it will fly?
I suppose you could look at it like this: they are making our flags, but are we making theirs? Who is working for who here....
It does irritate me something fierce to see those little "made in China" labels. The are actually my biggest pet peeve. I will not leave one on anything I touch. It makes me so mad to see them because I know it will not be as good as something crafted here by our fellow citizens who actually give a damn about the product and how they will be perceived for producing it, along with more accountability to us.
Would I vote for it? Sure, its our flag, we will make it better than anyone else because it'll be done with pride.

Yes, I think is a very good idea. US flags should be made in the USA. I also think they should be made by companies that do not hire illegal aliens to make them as well.

i commend you, DAR, for this fabulous question!!!
yep, absolutely, we should again HIRE AMERICAN and BUY AMERICAN! i wish i'd see a grassroots movement that plasters stickers all over the place in cities and towns that say HIRE AMERICAN and BUY AMERICAN.
the american public is really getting p*s*ed off paying out about $0.64 on each dollar they make in taxes that are supposed to keep our country strong and great and educated and working at the same time that congress votes in bills that benefit other countries, not our own country. (track your spending. add up ALL taxes you pay for EVERYTHING, and you will see that they amount to about 64% of each dollar you spend).
do you know that we now sell our scrap steel to china (and any other cheap labor market), which SHIPS it over on super tankers, so that IT, not us (look at the closing of steel mills around gary, IN), recycles it into "new" steel used to make our cars and anything else made of steel? imagine how much more $$$ you pay for OUR OWN RESOURCE that is HERE to be shipped overseas, worked on, then shipped back to us here!
but the president and senator teddy kennedy thought it SO CRUCIAL to pass that farce of a bill, the strive act, so that YOU don't get a damned job! as we speak this eve of independence day, the day for OUR COUNTRY, our legislators are still working on parts of that bill to allow illegal aliens to stay here to take your jobs. HIRE AMERICAN. BUY AMERICAN.
do you know that the panama canal is going to have to be widened now (of course by peon labor, not by us) to accommodate super tanker ships? do you know that much of the ancient culture of china has just gotten drowned by it's deepening and widening of the great yangtze river to accommodate super tankers? why? because it wants our money, that's why! and how will they get it? by shipping in anything that it can make money on!
the flags made in communist countries shouldn't be sold here. well, at least i, for one, would not buy one of them. if they don't make money here, they will quit making them, won't they?
on top of it, look at this quote, from your link:
"Under World Trade Organization standards, the U.S. government can't treat foreign products less favorably than those produced within its boundaries..."
why can't we? what great senators and representatives thought this one up? i can see why there is a revolution brewing in america today. can't you?
try to find film footage about how america became the most productive and rich nation on earth after WWII. and remember, if not for our intervention, the world would probably be speaking german today.
go united states of america!
