It's just like every other religion, so I have trouble understanding why people get their panties in a twist over them.

Even if their beliefs are "screwed up"...why do you care? It's *their* beliefs.

"Stop knocking on my door to spread your religion.

And, while you're at it, tell your fellow Mormons to stop following lone women down the street preaching while pretending to do stupid things like talk about the weather. "

Hey, it's not my religion. I'm an atheist.

I don't have any debate with LDS ... because every facet of Christianity is complete fiction.

So none of you should be pointing fingers at anyone. You are all in the same imaginary boat.

I was going to ask this same question myself. Reading the answers that were provided, I can see why this conept would be disturbing to people who believe in the Trinity. It's interesting to me because I was a Methodist for about 15 years. During that time, I wasn't sure how things were arranged, but I did not believe in the Trinity. I believed that God the Father, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Ghost were separate beings. That was something I was just born believing. The concept of the Trinity made no sense to me. Understanding the Godhead as related by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints was very natural to me. Given my beliefs I was not able to understand the frame of reference people had about Jesus and Lucifer begin brothers. So thank you for asking the question, I can now see why people who believe in the Trinity have an issue with this concept. I just wonder, if no one was every taught about the concept of a Trinity, would they believe in the Trinity or a Godhead?

Mormon beliefs are plagiarized from Christianity which in turn is plagiarized from pagan beliefs of the day.

Mormons are equally ignorant of the truth (as any other religious person) but are "picked on" because their founder was obviously mentally ill... and the religion is rather new. Look at Scientology and you will understand better - most of the world views them in a similar light. Additionally Mormons have a history of being racist.

I think that there are many misconceptions about Mormonism, just as there are about any religion that refuses to conform to what people believe to be the "norm" (i.e., Christianity). I suspect that many people lump all Mormons together and think that they all marry off their children and practice polygamy. Using this logic, though, it could be argued that all Christians on here are bigots, racists, etc. Of course this isn't true, but neither is the above of the majority of Mormons.

It's not the panties. It's the Garmies. And you can't twist them.

Actually it is a religion based on a hoax and a lie: the gold plates and resultant book of mormon. There hasn't been thousands of years to cloud the history as in the case of christianity, so many of the basic tenants have been proven false, untrue, misleading and non-existent.

That's not a good foundation to build a faith on, let alone to insist that everyone acknowledge that it is the only True Church on the face of the world. Once you make a statement of that magnitude, you better have spotless and undeniable credentials. The mormon church has neither.

What lonely women in the street are they chasing? Or you watching too many movies. Mormons believe they are commissioned by Jesus Christ to preach all the world...yes just like any other church. As for people not liking us...well that's their problem...They are prejudiced, ignorant, and just plain hateful people out there. Just ignore them.

Jarame said we believe Jesus was Michael the Archangel?
Now he mixed us up with the J.W.'s... No Jesus is the second person in the godhead. The Father, The Son and The Holy Ghost...these heretic hunters are screwed up.

As for ugotthat....We don't practice polygamy now and haven't for 110 years. We don't have multiple sex partners like you in your warped prejuidiced fantasies...William Jeffs isn't a member of our church. He is the leader of FLDS church. He has never been a mormon.

As for Mountain Meadows Massacre. The antimormons don't tell you of their history of violence against the mormons in the 19th century...burning people out of their homes and making them leave Jackson County Missouri, The Hauns hill massacre of shooting to death dozens of Mormons, Making an extermination order...no where else in U.S. history that a state Missouri, made an extermination order or exile out of the state the Mormon people living in Missouri in 1838.
They tarred and feather people in the church and for the coup de gras they murdered the founder of the Mormon church Joseph Smith and his brother Hyrum Smith in cold blood in Carthlidge, Ilinois. Why because they believed in a doctrine that Jesus Christ visited the native Americans after his resurection and Joseph smith found plates of gold, where a history of people who moved to the americas from the land of their fathers in palestine. Their religious history was told in the Book of Mormon. Their are also new revelations given to Joseph Smith, and people in their prejuidiced, ignorance, and pure hate spurred on by the religious leaders persecuted the church. They still persecute the church even until this day.

Thank you so much for your respectfulness! I am LDS and it is so nice to see open-minded, respectful people out there. A lot of people just toss the word "cult" around and bad-mouth whatever faith they don't like or don't agree with. They say they "aren't attacking the people", but when they say things like "That church brainwashes you" or "That church is a cult"....that IS attacking the followers of the church, not just the church itself. It's attacking the followers of the church because those people are offending them without any regard to their feelings whatsoever.

There's no way to justify such obvious rudeness, and I'm glad to see that not everyone is like that.

Because they add to something that doesn't need anything more added to. However - I dated two mormons in high school. Nice girls and all.

I have had mormon friends. I have to problem with them. I just don't agree with everything they teach.

While I am not actually answering your question - I wonder the same thing right next to you.

The real question is why anyone would feel justified to express intolerance of anyone's beliefs? Why don't folks just let well enough be?

Stop knocking on my door to spread your religion.

And, while you're at it, tell your fellow Mormons to stop following lone women down the street preaching while pretending to do stupid things like talk about the weather. To a woman alone it feels like "possible rape" is screaming in her ear no matter what you're talking about.

Now, lets add the weirdness of Kolob, baptisms after death, and worse... and you know why.
