He acts as though when he's hanging out with me, his demeanor has to be top-notch. We're real cool friends and when he's with me its like... he's "humbled" or something. he 'straightens up'. (I usually just be myself around him.)

Please, if anything I'd have HIM in a headlock, lol! We grew up together and i'm a bit of a tomboy but i guess i sorta 'grew up' so like you all said, he notices and respects that. But we play around too. Like...he'll play with my ear or if we're walking side by side he'll gently bump into me.

hey, im the same way, when im around the girl i like, i act mature, but a little silly too, but when im w/ the guys, i do stupid stuff like jump off roofs into bushes. its probably a guy thing

It's normal to behave differently around different people. Sounds like he's being respectful. I doubt you'd enjoy it if he treated you the same as he would a little brother. He'd put you in a headlock and give you noogies. Certainly you act differently to different people.

He is just trying to impress you. He's trying to be a good man for his woman. I would take it as a compliment, but don't let him go too far.
