how long after the initial appointment with the neurosurgeon would you guess it be for a surgery. The surgery is on a herniated disc compressing he nerve and causing severe leg pain. I haven't had my appointment yet, and im curious how long it would take because i really dont know how much longer can put up with this. I realize there is not right answer to this question, but just give me a ball park answer.

Since it is affecting your leg it should be rather quick. Allot of it depends on the type of medical insurance you have, and how urgent the doctor makes it sound when he requests authorization. Do not hesitate to let your doctor's office know you can't tolerate the pain. I went in on a Tuesday with the same diagnoses as yours, and was in the the hospital and having surgery on the following Monday. I really sympathize with you for the pain you are going through. It's unbelievably horrible and you can't get any relief! That's why I urge you to stay on the phone to the doctor's and keep pushing- you want it NOW! You will have too have an EKG and chest x-ray prior to surgery. You have a long road ahead of you, you will need physical therapy afterwards and be faithful in doing the excercises as it really makes a difference. I wish you a speedy recovery and wish you well!
