I personally think that our politicans get paid too much to sit on a chair all day when our soliders fight for us and usually die and yet are not the millionares of today's world...We're really messed up.

I think that our wonderful soliders deserve a lot more if it wasn't for them this country wouldn't even be half what it is today. I have a world of respect for them and think that our government should help them more but from their pockets too.

I barley make 790 every 2 weeks. The army pays us OK but nickle and dimes us every chance they get before we even see a good check. Health benefits suck,if your stuck with a messed up hosp, like we have here, you have to fight a mound of paper work to get the care you need else where. My wife all most die 2 times while in the army's care and refused to pay her hos bill that we got at a civilian hospital after they said we where covered. We get screwed more then helped, but we don't enlist for the money. army says they take care of us but you have to cover your own a$$ most of the time.We get paid better under Republicans and under dems i luck to get 500 dollars ever 2 weeks, and they love for us to pay out more then we get payed.Any one in the army knows this song, army payed me 100 dollars and took back 99,which ant far from the truth. That so called free medical and dental care, SUCKS. They drilled 3 of my wroung teeth before they got the right one and even then they screwed up.I have private heath Insurence after all i been through, screw the army and their benfits. No matter who enlist or how many we have in service its all whos in office plain and simple. If it where based on money, then SF teams would not have unlimited budgets for one amoung other things. Its all politics, one like to cut spending and dem hate to spend on the millitary.

asrandolph04-You idiot they do pay rent i pay 710 a month as a E4 that come straight out of my check each month,we pay for heath care that comes out each month.ITs whats called a deduction from pay>and when all said in done we have little left over for bills, and shes does not make 3500 a month as a E4 BULL. The most she will make as a E4 is 2,062.80 a month and thats with 26 years of service.now she get pay a few dollars more for being froma tax free state or others addictions but it wont be that high.If deployment maybe but very slim chance.

I sure the hell don't know who you've been listening to or reading, but I think most Americans, even those against the war, still support our men and women in uniform and appreciate the job they're doing in Iraq. If you're from the San-Francisco/ Oakland area, I can kind of see where you're coming from because I do listen to a news/talk radio station out there that does have some hosts who seem to enjoy bashing Bush and our military.

Just to play devil's advocate for a second, people don't make money by becoming politicians, I don't think their annual salaries would even cover their travel and bussiness expenses, although it probably has something to do with having the ability to protect your financial intrests. Enough of that, high ranking soldiers such as E-8 and above or O-4 and above do make pretty good salaries, how ever the lower ranking enlisted and officers even, don't make nearly enough. There's too much of a spred on the pay charts in my opinion. what is it $1400 a month for a E-1. Thats a joke, it'll fall under the poverty catagory even, I don't see how some soldiers can even suitably raise families on this amount of money. This year we had our lowest pay raise in over a decade just 2.2%. I can see why the military isn't appealing for many people, you've gotta bust your a** for close to nothing. Anyways, I just like to see the lower enlisted guys make an actual competative wage.

Never have been nor will they ever be.

Get over the Poor vs the Rich stuff.

A. Lincoln, H. Truman, R. Nixon, R. Reagan, W. Clinton started with nothing and all became President.

It's all about effort, not complaining.

The military is better paid than it was under Clinton.

It is still underpaid. And there is no way that one can be overpaid for being a combat soldier.

No they are definitely not paid enough. The people need to demand that they get better pay. Write your congressman! God bless our servicemen and women!

It's a matter of economics. Supply vs demand. If enough soldiers are signing up at the current wage, then it's high enough. If not, it needs to be raised (or other changes made). The last recruitment statistics I heard indicated that more recruits than expected signed up, so don't expect any pay raises to come their way any time soon.

You could never pay military members enough for the jobs that they do.

Yes!! They get paid too much. My ex wife is an E-4, and she makes close to 3,500.00 a month. She pays no rent bill, no water bill, no electric bill, no trash bill, plus she gets free health insurance, and she is only an E-4!!!!!!!!! They are sticking filthy RICH!!!!!!!!! Just to add one side note. The divorse rate in the military is close to 86%, and it is the military people are the ones who cheat, so basically--they are an immoral army.
