In the wide world of dating, a player is someone who's sport is dating. Instead of throwing pitches in a ball park, they throw pitches (verbal) to the desperate, lonely, or naive enough to believe them. Many times it even includes betting on getting a particular target. Players dating other players usually don't get hurt, they know the game. Players aren't in relationships for keeps, so when they find a partner that wants something real, that partner gets hurt in the end. The game sucks for "real" people in the dating/relationship world.

i think it's some one who cheats and lies with more than one other person and his mates think that makes him a legend. It's just low and you should never trust a player cause u will probably just end up getting hurt. If you are thinking about being a player, dont expect to get respect from any of the girls.

Well, players are guys. If it's a girl they're called slutty, sad to say. But a player is a guy that acts all into you and nice to you, just to get in your pants, and then once he's succeeded, he ignores you, is rude to you, or starts pursuing his next target. They just want to use you for sex/sexual affection if they're underage, lol, and then go for the next one.
Watch "Just Friends"......the character Dusty is a player.
