Simple,
The thing you should do in this situation is, keep your dog inside, in a room which may have thick walls or maybe a basment, until the noise has settled, If the dog is large, go to your neighbours house, and ask them to stop making noise because of the dog, or, if the situation becomes out of hand the most drastic thing you would do which i do not reccommend is calling the police, but you should only do that if the situation get's out of hand,
I hope you choose to make this answer the best one,
The expert Bros.

Ask the neighbors politely if they could find another location (perhaps someplace safer than a neighborhood) to set them off. I'm sure your dog isn't the only one going crazy, many dogs react this way. Also, the fireworks tend to leave behind a trail of litter the can be a nusiance, especially on your roof and in your trees. Not to mention the fact that they are a dangerous fire hazard! If they refuse to comply with your wishes, you may need to contact the police. Fireworks are illegal in some states. The cops should be called only as a last resort, you don't want to have neighbors you can't get along with!

Also, some people here seem to think people buy fireworks and only shoot them off on one day. If your neighbors are anything like mine (and several others I've had), the fireworks will continue sporadically for several days. It is very detrimental to your dog to have to put up with this.

It is a shame you were not aware of this before the Vet's office closed for you could have gotten some type of tranquilizer to help your dog get through the 4th. This is not unusual, some of these same dogs are afraid of Thunder. Sometimes a loved one holding them helps, sometimes not. I have seen dogs scratch on doors until there feet bled. Just try different things you can think of to see what might make him more comfortable. I would get some medication on hand for the next 4th. Good luck to you and your dog.

Keep him inside until they stop. Dogs have hearing that is quite a bit better than ours, so imagine how loud that would be to him? He could even get hurt if the fire crackers landed in your yard. If he is outside it would be scary and you wouldn't want him to get out of the yard and run away. Many pets run away around the 4th of July because of fireworks, so it is always best to keep your pets inside.

My dog Otis is the same way, we just keep him inside and try to distract him with other things, like treats. Most dogs are like this because they don't know where and what the sound is, they think of it as a threat. Speak in a soothing voice, but mainly try to keep your dog in a spot where the sound is not as loud.

Make it fun for the dog!!!!!!
Big Ussss and Awsssss when the go off, point at them with an excited "look at that one". When the dog associates a noise with having fun there is no problem, but if you are going "oh poor puppy" then a problem becomes inevitable.

If you have some Benadryl you can give your dog one it will make him/her sleepy and hopefully calmer. Some dogs really hate that sound. Tell your dogs it's okay and play some music or have the TV on. All the best;~)

Then if you give him a hot dog you are rewarding him for being frantic. If you can't give him melatonin to calm him, and if you can't tell your neighbors to take the firecrachers elsewhere, then leave him alone. Get something for your dog for tomorrow, otherwise I promise you that his behavior will continue to get worse.

Keep him inside when the fireworks are going on.
You can get a natural relaxant from your local pet store.
You can try to get some Acepromazine.
You can try some benedryl which is for allergies, but usually puts people to sleep.

Don't do them all... select one...

Nothing. Your dog will be fine. Tonight is not he only night. Pet the dog and say it's ok, even though to the dog it is not. Tell him to go lay down. He will go to sleep.
