no we are not. mostly people drink tap water which is not bacteria free. that is not to say it has disease bacteria. What matters is that we drink water that has no harmful bacteria. In India you can't be sure about the bottled water either. Boiling water also does not kill all the bacteria. The best way to have relatively bacteria free water is to pressure cook it for 15 minutes or install a filtration system that filters and subjects water to high frequency energy to kill most bacteria. There is no way you can remove the chemical impurities though

Americans have the safest water in the world. Some local communities have better ratios of bacteria than bottled water. The only time that you have to worry is when there is a water main break and then you are given advisories to boil it until they give a green light to it again...usually a day or two. If you live in the country and use well water you should have it tested yearly and add chemicals as needed to kill the bacteria.

All public water systems have bacteria in them but generally no or very few pathogens. Bottled water is rarely sterile either so generally speaking almost all water has some low level contamination in it.

all water has bacteria in it. It is just a question of how much bacteria.

That depends on where you are. Many poorer nations simply don't have the resources to treat water so that it is clean enough for safe human consumption.

Otherwise, the only way to drink germ-free water is to boil it first.
