When all of the following scripture can be interpreted to mean that we can become Gods
Psalms 82: 6 I have said, Ye are gods; and all of you are children of the most High.
John 10: 34
33 The Jews answered him, saying, For a good work we stone thee not; but for blasphemy; and because that thou, being a man, makest thyself God.
34 Jesus answered them, Is it not written in your law, I said, Ye are gods?
35 If he called them gods, unto whom the word of God came, and the scripture cannot be broken;
Rom. 8: 17
17 And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.
acording to dictionary .com hear are a couple of definations of what an heir is.
a person who inherits or is entitled to inherit the rank, title, position, etc., of another.
a person or group considered as inheriting the tradition, talent, etc., of a predecessor.

Rebecca Its because that I am studying the new testament that I have these questions.
Also I have studied the early Christian church councils.
I am about to say some thing that will offensive to other christains. so if you don't want to be offended then stop reading
I would say that the LDS church is the only truly Christian church.
A look at the formation of the Christian faith under Constantine is all that is needed to see how the church changed during that period.

Theosis was a readily acceptable part of the Christian doctrine before that time.

To explain the verses you (mis)interpreted -The "gods" referred to in Psalms are judges who decided the fate of others (the will of God). They were called gods because of the power they yielded. This reference to people being called gods was acceptable to the Jews in their own sacred texts.
Jesus referred to it when they were accusing Him of blasphemy. If mere men reflecting God's will can be called gods, how much more right does the true son of God have to the title? You need to read beyond verse 35 for the Jesus's whole explaination.
You're right. Romans 17 speaks of heirs of God. As an heir I inherit all the privilidges of a child in God's family. Among these treasures are a brotherhood with Christ and keys to the kingdom of Heaven. BTW-Being someone's heir doesn't mean you turn into that person.
Christians agree with the Bible that there is only one true God(YHWH).
I could cite dozens of verses, but they're easy enough to find if you're really interested.
Remember -The first lie that satan (the father of lies) ever told mankind is that they could become like God. Don't fall for it.

because there are also passages that point out that there are no other gods before God, that God is the beginning and the end. i think you are perhaps misinterpreting that scripture, which i'm sure a more knowledgeable Christian on here can clarify for you. our God is the ruler and creator of the UNIVERSE, not just this Earth and it's immediate surroundings. therefore he is the ONE AND ONLY God.
my thinking is, God is so powerful and glorious and awesome beyond our imaginations that we do not dare fathom that we could become Him, or another being like him.

Jesus in John 10 is mocking them as if to say, You all think you're gods yourselves (rulers) and rightly so (this is a tongue and cheek expression). But you do not recognize THE God among you. The Pharisees were blinded to who Jesus truly was.
We are not gods and we cannot become gods there is only ONE God.

First of all, the only Christians that consider Mormons as Christians are other Mormons.
As a former mormon myself, descended of John D. Lee who was the adopted son of Brigham Young and the bodyguard to Joseph Smith, I can tell you most assuredly that mormons are NOT Christians.
You are taking those scriptures out of context. When God says that we are gods, He is not equaling our status with His. How could we ever be raised to the status of God, who created the heavens and the earth?
God is perfect, we are not. As we are not perfect, this means we make mistakes. These mistakes are called sin, and when our lives are filled with sin, there is only one destination for us: Hell -- you know, NOT the Telestial Kingdom.
Jesus talks very plainly about hell. Mormons don't. Jesus talks very plainly about our works not being able to save us. Mormons teach that only your works can save you. Jesus teaches us that His way is the ONLY way. Mormoms believe that you can attain godhood through good works.
Jesus never promised us that we would become God along with Him. He said that He would share His inheritence with us; in short, He promised us that if we believed in Him, we would be able to live with Him in paradise.
You'd better put that Book of Mormon down and pick up your Bible. And do yourself a favor. Get a New King James Version of the Bible. God won't smite you for your wanting to know the truth. Start with learning about what qualifications you had to meet in order to get into Solomon's Temple; I think you'll be genuinely surprised.

God Created Man in his own image Genesis 1:27,
then why is it that we all look different, and why is it that we are able to think and speak ill of people and their choices of religion as well as the religious figures themsleves when we are told by bibles and such not to do this?
I am not trying to start and arguement, i'm just saying.

we are the top of the food chain are we not? we are gods among ants, but we must know where we stand under the vastness of the true king, the lord. this thought must humble us, and we must accept our inferiority to the lord, lest we be cast out like satan himself
