Tattoos are a personal matter entirely. If you will get some enjoyment out of it, then you are welcome to do so. However, on the other hand as it is a long time commitment, you should seriously consider if it is of enough significance to have it placed on your body. What is cute now may or may not mean anything months or years down the line.
That said, the inner portion of the lip is a very difficult place to do such things and has a high rate of infection because of the amount of bacteria present. Mouth piercings such as the tongue and lip are among the most prone to complications and tattoos also penetrate the layers of skin that protect itself from the external environment. In addition you are dealing with chemical inking and the need for the skin to scar over. Anything concerning the mouth needs to be handled with extreme care. Speak with a licensed tattoo artist on the feasibility and the possible risks associated, preferably one who has a lot of experience with atypical designs. Keep in mind that some artists may refuse to do work on certain parts of the body.

I think its cute...in fact my boyfriend has a phrase (2 words) picked out that I'm having done on mine.
Keep in mind though, they don't last long as the mouth regenerates skin quite quickly and the tattoo will eventually grow out either to the point of non-existence, or blotchyness unless touched up occassionally.

One of my friends got a tattoo there and it fades after a little while. It starts to look blurry and gross. Ask a tattoo artist about it because when she got hers the guy said it wasn't the best idea and that it would fade and get blurry fast. I don't remember exactly how long it lasted but it wasn't that long.

who cares if it's attractive, no one but you & whoever you show it to will ever know it's there [except maybe your dentist, of course.] a friend of mine has 'bite me' on the inside of her lower lip. it's a really rebellious thing to do, and somewhat attractive to the guys that dig that sort of stuff.
but consider the area in question; the tissues in your mouth, especially your inner cheek & lips, are constantly repairing themselves...eventually, a tattoo there will fade & won't be completely visable.
maybe narrow your word down to four letters & have it written across your fingers? a really oldschool thing to do, but really rebellious, nevertheless.

It"ll prolly only cost as much as the shops minimum. Also, just fyi, tattoos in that area usually arent guaranteed because the inside of our mouths shed so often so it prolly wnt last u long. The pain and swelling i think just depends on the individual person and how well u take cae of it. I think its a fun area though. I always wnted sumthin there too. Good luck to ya!

Don't get a tattoo. It will be wicked awesome for about 2 weeks. Then it will just be awesome. Then after a few months it will just be cool. After a year it will just be there. Eventually it will be lame and then wicked lame. But you'll be stuck with it. Which will make you wicked lame. I'm tellin' ya' don't do it.
