I am currently taking mefloquin or something like that, and i can not swallow tablets, so i crush it up, and put it in ralph's chocolate syrup. Is that okay? Like, will the malaria tablet work properly, because i am leaving to india soon...and i want it to work properly. So, will crushing the mefloquin malaria tablet into powder, and putting it in chocolate syrup work? Because i couldn't really taste anything...

thankss

Also, the chocolate syrup has citric acid in it, so wouldn't it dissolve it?

Are you sure it wont affect it?

Yes that's fine. I crushed the pill and put it in applesauce for my son when he was a baby and we took him to India. His pediatrician was the one who told us to mix it into his applesauce.

Have a fun trip.

Depends. Is the tablet in enteric coating? Because if it is, then its not supposed to be crushed. Regular pills are meant to dissolve in your system, while enteric coated pills are supposed to take time before it does. But if its not, then chocolate syrup shouldn't affect it. Its like taking it with water heh.

Y'know, it' probably OK, but you really should check with your pharmacist. He/she has access to literature that answers your question with more certainty. Answering questions like this is something pharmacists do. They should be happy to serve you in this regard.
