Get the 4.0 I-6, they are some of the most reliable motors ever built, much better than the 2.5.

If you're looking to build your Jeep for offroading, I'd recommend the 4.0L engine, because once you start putting bigger tires on the Wrangler, the 2.5L can have a hard time getting power to them and your highway speeds will drop down.

If you're looking for something to drive around town, it doesn't really matter which one you get. A 2.5L might get a little better mileage, but you don't buy a Wrangler for mileage, anyway.

The 2.5 Liter is a 4 cylinder not a 6 cylinder. The 4 cylinder engines have plastic valve covers. So I'd never own any jeep with a 4 cylinder.

I would definetly go with the 4.0 Liter. I have a 91 jeep that came stock with the 2.5 and after I lifted it it had no power, the 4.0 is a much more reliable and stronger choice.

A 2.5L isn't going to have much power and is going to be wound up tight to maintain highway speeds. The 4.0L is a much better option.

My 98 Sport has the 4.0, I think it is better the the 2.5 especially if you have bigger than stock tires.

my cousin has a jeep, he used to have a 2.5 but he swaped it out for a 4.0 liter for more power, a 2.5 is good on gas and great if you use your jeep for highway use, and don't have big tires, but if you go muddin or rock crawlin alot you definenly want a 4.0 woich still gets o.k gass milage
