other than to belittle or mock.

I don't think anyone should answer a question just to mock or belittle anyone. But I also don't think anyone should use the excuse of "asking" a question as a way to perpetuate a stereotype or push their beliefs on others. I've noticed questions from atheists and Christians alike that are nothing but an attempt to rile the other side. A question should be a quest for knowledge, not a forum to spew hatred or get on a soapbox.
And let me just add Pascal's Wager and leave it at that.

Had you ask this question to the Christians as well?

"Christians, Why do you answer questions directed to Atheists other than to belittle or mock"

It works both ways.

There is no barrier. Just like any other "religion" discussion forum, this place is to ask and answer questions about Religion & Spirituality. It nowhere implies an exclusive club-house For Believers Only. Besides, if you believe in a religion you are limited and stultified in your thinking. For example, you don't consider a universe where Satan is the good guy or just an ordinary unfortunate guy who does not take part in moral strife but just wants to wear women's dresses all day. Why not? Religious people need every fresh perspective they can get.

I don't answer questions that are obviously directed only at Christians. I'll answer questions that are directed at atheists, or are open for anyone to answer. I never answer ones that say "Christians only..." unless it's followed up by something like "why do atheists..."

Why do christians, or should I say Brain-washed drones, hijack other threads not related to religion? Why do they post questions on unrelated topics and then turn the focus to religion.

BTW I feel offended by the term "Atheist." It implies that there is a god, and that I simply don't believe in him (her or it). In order not to abuse my human rights, you must call me an evolutionist or realist.

Why do some Christians answer questions directed to atheists or even agnostics with vehemence and judgements?

Kelly, I wish people would respect boundaries on here, but they won't.

There are times that I ask questions for just Christians, but I also ask questions for Wiccans, Atheists, etc.

It seems to me that if a person only wants answers from a certain category, that boundary should be respected.

We have every right to answer questions on a an open forum.. and Christians do the same thing.

Yeah- why do you do that? Is it maybe because we're constantly complaining about you and you want to stand up for yourself? Is it because you hear the same rhetoric day in and day out for that slight chance that one of us might ask a new question some day? Is it because you think the question is really funny and you just want to mess with us?

WHY WHY WHY?

"other than to belittle or to mock" well, that's basically why i do it (even though i normally dont bother with questions directed to christians, but when i do, that's the reason)
