Say the heart is untrust worthy, I believe it but does anyone know why this is?

The Bible says: “Do not lean upon your own understanding.” (Proverbs 3:5) Why not? Because all humans have inherited a fundamental flaw that can warp their judgment.
Adam and Eve passed on to their offspring a family trait—a treacherous heart with the ability to recognize what is right but with the tendency to pursue what is wrong.—Genesis 6:5; Romans 5:12; 7:21-24.
Of course, it is one thing to know what is right; it is quite another to have the moral strength to do what is right. How does one come to have the necessary moral strength? Since actions are motivated by the heart, cultivating a love for the Author of the Bible,

The heart is covered by this three subtle elements: mind, intelligence and false ego. Lust takes over of this elements and the heart become polluted. Until we purify from the desire of enjoy this material world and develop pure love for God, our heart is untrusted worthy.

Back in the day, they thought that the brain was where intellect was and the heart was where emotions were. Now we know the heart is a muscle that just pumps blood through the body. More proof that the bible is NOT a book of science.

because a person shouldn't always trust their heart in situations. A person should use their mind because emotions change the way people act.

i think it is referring to the emotions that heart can produce. They are bound to change. A part that you are quoting encourages you to be sober from them and not fall....On the other hand, it is strange that it should want to prevent you from it, as though that would be like some kind of a secret that somebody woudn't want you to discover...
