OK, I get what you think democrats/liberals should do.

What should these guys do?

"Former Republican House Speaker Newt Gingrich challenged fellow conservatives Tuesday to stop resisting scientific evidence of global warming"

"Pat Robertson (very conservative Christian leader) “It is getting hotter and the ice caps are melting and there is a build up of carbon dioxide in the air. We really need to do something on fossil fuels.”

Ford Motor Company CEO William Clay Ford, Jr. "I believe there is now more than enough evidence of climate change to warrant an immediate and comprehensive - but considered - response. Anyone who disagrees is, in my view, still in denial."

"The science of global warming is clear. We know enough to act now. We must act now."

James Rogers, CEO of Charlotte-based Duke Energy.

“With overwhelming scientific evidence that global warming is adversely impacting the health of our planet, the time has come for the Congress to take action.”

Senator Olympia Snowe, Republican, Maine

"The overwhelming majority of atmospheric scientists around the world and our own National Academy of Sciences are in essential agreement on the facts of global warming and the significant contribution of human activity to that trend."

Russell E. Train, Republican, former environmental official under Presidents Nixon and Ford

"I agree with you (Gore) that the debate over climate change is over."

Rep. Dennis Hastert, Republican, Illinois

"Global warming is real, now, and it must be addressed."

Lee Scott, CEO, Wal-Mart

"Our nation has both an obligation and self-interest in facing head-on the serious environmental, economic and national security threat posed by global warming."

Senator John McCain, Republican, Arizona

"I'm trying to learn [about greenhouse gases and global warming]. The more I learn, the bigger believer I become."

Senator Lindsay Graham, Republican, South Carolina

“DuPont believes that action is warranted, not further debate."

Charles O. Holliday, Jr., CEO, DuPont

But it's not surprising you think this is a democrat/liberal thing. That's the plan:

"Rep. Wayne Gilchrest asked to be on the Select Committee on Energy Independence and Global Warming. House Republican leader John Boehner of Ohio refused to allow it unless Gilchrest would say that humans have not contributed to global warming. The Maryland Republican refused and was denied a seat.

Reps. Roscoe Bartlett (R-Md.) and Vernon Ehlers (R-Mich.), both research scientists, also were denied seats on the committee. Normally, relevant expertise would be considered an advantage. In this case, it was a disqualification; if the GOP allowed Republican researchers who accept the scientific consensus to sit on a global warming panel, it would kill the party’s strategy of making global warming seem to be the pet obsession of Democrats and Hollywood lefties."

I'm concerned about global warming because the scientific evidence is overwhelming that humans are accelerating it and this will lead to catastrophic climate change if we don't slow it down.

That does not mean I'm advocating that everyone turn off their A/C during the summer. In some places people need the A/C. I leave my thermostat at 81 degrees F, which is pretty high. I encourage others to do the same and take other action to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions, thus I practice what I preach.

Maybe you should try listening to what's actually being preached and being less closed-minded.

Why does this always have to turn into a "political debate"?

Cant we all agree that the environment isnt doing so well?
I mean just look at all of the pollution, trash, smog, etc... Is that something you want your kids breathing?

No one is asking anyone to give up AC, but we are asking for better ways to fuel that AC. While you go and pay your expensive gas, electric and fuel bills, ill be chillin in my nice AC'ed house running on Solar and driving to work on that same electricity. Saving money and disconnecting from the current "grid" (or should I say IV) is a good thing.

"If you're so involved approximately terrorism, why do not you opt for up a gun and move to Iraq?" It's the identical variety of query you are asking me, and neither query is reasonable. Let's face it, all of us have lives, and what we have got to do is uncover answers that compromise our lives as low as viable. Those folks who're involved approximately international warming do our satisfactory to do *what we consider secure doing* to cut down our contribution to it. And we inspire others to do the identical. The reality is that truly societal difference - the type of factor you are suggesting involving "giving up AC all summer time" - has to come back from well management. (Remember World War II and the way everybody was once prompted to provide aluminum and purchase bonds? That wasn't a grass-roots phenomenon.) And in keeping with Gore and to the local weather scientists who've lately published studies, this type of dramatic shift isn't but required. So in phrases of "why *****," when you should not have a higher thought, why ***** approximately Democrats? :-) As for what has transformed, I'm certain the technological know-how has complicated, however I'm no longer going to take a blind stab at that one. But what it appears love to me from minimum study is that men and women had been involved that the local weather was once exchanging, and whether or not that was once a warming or cooling fashion was once no longer but noticeable within the 70s. But I was once only a twinkle in my dad's eye at that factor, so take it with a grain of salt, adequate?

excuse me maybe you should talk to the starving people around the world. The reason they starve is because the have no food the reason the have no food is because of drought and drought comes from heat and heat comes form the sun and the sun rays get tapped in the aophere and are amplified by the carbon dioxide which cause heat what cases drought which causes hunger because food wont grow food and causes in the end suffering and death! And I am a limberest and I'm guessing your a Republican well maybe you should just hire someone to write back because that's what repub.s are doing wasting our gov.s money!!

I have not used air conditioning since I have had the ability to make that decision. So does that mean I'm allowed to tell you what to do now, being as I am practicing what I preach?

Not to mention, it is not only liberals who are concerned about global warming, and global warming is not the only thing to be concerned about in the environment.

Man-made global warming has now officially become classified as another kooky religious cult. It's politically driven, so it's the new religion of the far left loons.

It won't last long. It's like blood letting and the flat earth society. It's funny, but whenever they say it's a "scientific consensus," I am reminded that the "fact" that the sun revolved around the earth was a scientific consensus once.

Hopefully the uninformed will become educated on the real scientific facts soon.

This is very sad that you put politics and global warming together... If there is a problem that the earth is warming up, not matter is caused by human or not, we all have our responsibilities to solve the problem... I careless about politics, but I do care about taking good care of the earth for generations to come.

I agree with you
I lived in Dallas Texas for two years without Air Conditioning, won't go back to that
I read John Kerry owns 6 huge homes and 7 SUVs, hows that for consumption?
I saw Joan Baez on the news when she visited Crawford Texas
I noticed she was in a full size Cadillac SUV, I was astounded she had the nerve to attend a anti war rally driving that behemoth!

Imbecile. Nobody's told you to shut off your AC. Nobody's told you you can't drive the car you want to (although we've warned you that the fuel you're using is damaging the environment). You people seriously need to stop lancing windmills.
