How old is your dog? In older dogs the cause of bad breath can be symptoms of kidney or liver problems. You can also check for bad teeth, they could be rotting, have an infection or tartar build up. Either way please take your dog to the vet for a thorough check up

Bad breath is most often caused by bacteria that is mixed in with the brown tartar that you can see on the teeth--usually near the gumline. The dogs teeth can be cleaned, and there are many products available to help prevent plaque build up. Brushing after a cleaning is easy and the best way to prevent problems. Ask your vet to do an oral exam and make the necessary recommendations.
If he is young with clean white teeth, then bad breath can come from his diet. A change might help.
Certain mouth odors, especially in older pets, can indicate disease, like kidney disease or diabetes.

What are you feeding your dog? Stinky breath could be from dry dog food which contains grains ... which is NOT what a dog should eat. It causes tartar build up on their teeth, disease and if it gets too bad, kidney probs. Dogs are carnivores and should eat RAW meat. Sounds pretty gross, but do the research and save your dog and your money on vet bills. There are great websites on raw eating. Raw chicken, beef, rabbit, same as what they would eat if they were in the wild. Whiter teeth, fresher breath, less poop clean up, shinier coats, muscle toned, etc., are just some of the benefits. Check it out for yourself and you will be amazed. I was!!!! GO RAW its the only way a dog should eat.

My Husbands Yorkie has bad bad breath and he takes him to the vet and has his teeth cleaned every 6 months. He even brushes his teeth every day just to help keep the bad breath away. I have also got Doggy Dent breath spray for pets. This helps also. But if your not sure please take your dog to the vet and get a check up it could be signs of a more serious problem.

Your dog needs his teeth cleaned. Dogs get tartar and plaque just like people do. If it is not scraped off, your dog can get bad breath. He can also get rotted teeth and that can cause really smelly breath. Greenies are a chewy treat that can help with bad breath somewhat, but nothing is better than taking your dog for a teeth cleaning.

Your dog may just have dog breath or may be really sick. I noticed a really really funky smell from my Mastiff, and finally took him to the vet. I felt like a total loser, because he had a tumor (cancer) growing in his mouth. We had it removed once, and it grew back. He's had it now for 18 months, malignant, and he still appears ok, but I've seen a general decline for a few months. It may be nothing, or it may be a serious condition. Please go to the vet. You do not want to live with the guilt like me.

maybe you need to change the dogs diet, sometimes a certain food will do that, give the dog some raw hides there are also OTC dental items available at stores like petsmart.
your dog might need a teeth cleaning contact your vet,for that.
if your dog has a lot of tartar build up and you can't take him to the vet you could scrape the teeth yourself,if your dog let's you....just like a dentist does on your teeth.

Take him to have his teeth cleaned. Dogs with bad breath usually suffer from periodontal disease. Just like humans.
LOL buena! It's a tie. Same time.
