I see no reason not to allow your child to run around the house, inside or out, without a diaper. Hopefully your back yard has a privacy fence of some sort. As long as your child is in the privacy of your own home and yard then there is no reason not to let him/her have their freedom. They will have if for so short a time as it is.
I don't understand why we as adults have to restrict our kids and keep them from being free spirits. They have no preconceived ideas of modesty or what they should or shouldn't wear and when they should do it. Let's let them be kids for as long as they can, soon enough they will be forced into a mold and have to follow the straight and narrow no matter what.
Let thm run free and the I say to heck with what anyone else says about it as to whether it is right or wrong. Just do it, and let them enjoy it.
Good luck.

Humans like order and routine, generally speaking. This is why we have governments and civilized society. In my opinion adults can get stuck in an unconscious "this is the way we do things" mode. When a situation arises that goes against that "this is how we do things" mentality, people can feel out of sorts and want to correct the situation.
My husband is very much a rule follower and sometimes stops our son from doing "fun" things...just because. The other day I was watering plants on our patio. I turned the water off and left the hose there. The last of the water dripped from the hose, onto the concrete patio and made a medium, sized puddle. My son (3.5 yo) was stepping in the puddle and then stomping around to leave water footprints. My husband made him stop. My question to my dh was "Why? Why not make footprints? Why not shuffle through a puddle. Why not?". It wasn't dirty there, not dangerous and we had no where to be. My dh didn't have an answer. So I said, "Is it just...because.....it's wet, it's a puddle, we don't play in puddles....just because?". Of course he laughed and realized that it is ok to make water footprints on the concrete. Take that story and substitute "diaper only" or "no diaper".
There's nothing wrong with a baby enjoying the breeze on a hot day in the appropriate setting. And there's nothing wrong with you asking, "Why not?". ;)

I don't see what the big deal is. My 2 year old runs around in nohtin but her diaper all the time. As long as you aren't going out in public I can't see why it should be a problem.

I don't know why they make such a big fuss about this. My mother let us run around the house naked in summer when we were very little (she has pictures, much to my embarrassment). It seems that more and more now people have issues with allowing our children to be comfortable.

I don't understand the fuss either. It's 100 degrees here and I let my kids run around in their diaper/pull-ups. I only dress them if we're going to the store.

I don't have a problem with it. The only concern is sun exposure, a very lightweight t-shirt can help prevent sunburn.
I only throw shorts/pants on my 16 month old if we go to the park. *lol* Often he wears just a diaper and shoes in the yard because he won't walk on the grass with bare feet.

I would say that you could blame it on Bush and the conservative agenda, but you are in Italy... it is probably somehow still his fault, though! :) Just teasing... Children are the epitome of "freedom". That carefree spirit should be nurtured and not beaten down. Let your children run free for as long as they can-- eventually the world will catch up to them, and they will put on a shirt.

People are silly. It's 100 f and 100% humidity where I live, my toddler is in his diaper only unless we are going somewhere.
