I mean really understand it, not just claim you do. I say no...actually, anyone that has studied evolution in depth, knows the answer...

Interesting criticism of both the Quran and Bible http://www.skepticsannotatedbible.com/quran/index.htm

Evolution - Cool graphics on this website. You will better understand evolution, so you can refute it and not sound stupid, or maybe accept it. http://www.becominghuman.org/

Lao Tzu was a wise man, he wrote "The best leader is one whose existence is barely known by the people." Just like God :). Anyways, you say a Christian can't believe evolution because of Genisis? LOL! First, the Bible could have been mistranslated, mistyped, or peversions of stories down the line. Second, they even taught me in a Catholic school that the Bible is meant to contain SPIRITUAL/RELIGIOUS facts, not historical, hence not all events might of actualy happened. Third, many religions LOVE metaphores :) So we can take the story of Genisis, and easily say that it isn't a HISTORICAL fact, but the spiritual fact is God is the source of everything. He could have just created the verry begining of the Universe, and then called it quits. But because of the begining of the Universe, we and everything else were created as a direct result. So it was God who made us and everything else. And all this still holds true to the Bible :O. So, as you can see, there is no reason why evolution would contradict.

Religion? who knows.
but I see no reason you cant follow Jesus and accept evolution.
The bible is the story between God and humans (story doesn't imply fiction) and not a science textbook. Genesis 1 and 2 are not trying to show how the world and life came about in a physical sense. It is showing Gods intention for the world and his relationship with it.
If you look at Genesis 1 it seems to be constructed as a poem, starting by god creating the spaces (heavens, sky/waters and land) and then in the second part fulling these (with stars, sun, moon, birds, etc.)
You have to remember that when it was written science didn't exist. People weren't concerned about that kind of thing. to write the science about how the world came about would be pointless and uninteresting to the people.
The Bible is the tool we have to find the truth about Gods character and relationship to us. Science is the tool to find the truth of how his creation works. Separate but complementary if you use them both right.

Real evolution means evolution of the soul according to the ancient Vedas. The soul transmigrates through 8,000,000 Species of life until it reaches the human form which there are 400,000 different species of humans on all different planets. Read Forbidden Archiology and The Hidden History of teh Human Race by Michael A. Cremo which has heaps of archiological findings that proov man was more intelligent in every way even millions of years ago and they didn't look like apes or cavemen. They had aircraft way more advanced and everything. Facts that are proven and are written in Vedas. Darwins theory has been proven wrong by scientists. fact.

I think so yes, if understanding is possible at all. Understanding an idea cannot be identical to believing it to be true, also not all religions conflict with evolution. Even you seem to suggest it is possible to refuse it and not sound stupid, so what is your point? You sound just like some Christians who think reading the Bible will magically turn you into a Christian.

understanding evolution is possible and at the same have his or her religion and believe in that religion
understanding is a different thing, u know the details, the limitations etc

for example my teacher understand the principle very well, he knows that weak points etc, maybe he accepts that humans are limited in knowlegde etc and he accepts that man will always want explaination as to the origin of man and theories will always come

on the other hand, his spiritual self longs for something that will make him comfortable with his life and thats why he also believes and has his own religion

Well I guess that the first part of your question is the real meat of this whole thing...is it possible to understand evolution...I mean really understand it...

No, it is not possible becasue it's (evolution) based on too many lies that have been told as truth for soooo long that now people actually do believe the lie. And when confronted with REAL science, just one simple FACT(aka the Scientific LAW of Biogenesis) they called ME brainwashed, stupid, and ignorant.

And in the last days right will be called wrong and wrong right. How many people that 'believe' in evolution SWEAR that it is the truth without even knowing 1 of the lies that it is based on?

Sure, why not? There are all kinds a people 'round the world.

Funny thing though that both organized religion and what is commonly reckognized as theory of evolution are fundamentaly wrong. Though, I don't think that theory of evolution is difucult to understend, both Darvins or real way it happend, but religion puzzles me big time.

No. They are not compatible. It is irrelevant that most theists and most Christians around the world accept the theory of evolution. If they looked hard enough at the heartless violence and brutal indifference of evolution, they would realize that there is no room for a benevolent god, and nothing for any kind of god to do.

Why is this chick under me shouting so much? Oh dear, I've ended up saying THAT again...

An acceptance of evolution only pushes the big questions back in time . It doesn't eliminate them . "How did the Universe originate?" "Where did the original matter in The Big Bang come from?", instead of "How was the Earth created ?" It's only a problem for Creation-Myth literalists .

ps. The definition of "Evolution" is "Genetic change over time " . That's happening right in front of our eyes. How can you not believe it ?

pps MUHAMMAD, that couldn't be more vague . & are you agreeing, or disagreeing with the question?

Yes, all of the Christians I know in real life (not the Internet) do.

They take Genesis as a metaphor, or assume that since the Bible was written by men that a few mistakes were made.

British Christians are quite smart in comparison to American ones.
