Bridesmaids can be single or married. A matron of honour is married, but a MAID of honour is single.

You do not have to be single/unmarried to be a bridesmaid, however you do have to be single to be a Maid of Honor. A Matron of Honor is married. You can have a Maid or Matron or both, but you do not (according to etiquette) have 2 maids of honor or 2 matrons of honor. Nowadays some people do whatever they want, and obviously men/women may have the opposite sex stand up with them at the altar. Hope this helps!

These days anyone even a man can stand up with the bride. It's your wedding. If you are married it is called Matron of Honor. It's pretty much anything goes.

Traditionally the bridesmaids were just that, "maids". They represented ladies in waiting; those that waited upon the bride. Though I have to say these days most bridesmaids think that they are only there as orniments and really don't do that much to help out.

A Maid of Honour is single, a Matron of Honour is unmarried - but there is only one position. Bridesmaids were traditionally unmarried, but with couples being older when they are marrying, there's nothing wrong with having a married bridesmaid.

A bridesmaid can be married or single, but the matron of honour is usually married. I've been to a wedding where there was a maid of honor and a matron of honor, because one was married and other wasn't. If you choose someone to be your maid of honor and they are married you give them the title of matron of honor.

I've neveer heard of a distinction between married or single bridesmaids, unless you'd just call them "attendants". Maids of Honor are single. If married, they're called "Matrons of Honor"

Nah, you could be married or single.

In the Maid of Honor position, if you are married you would be the Matron of Honor.

A bridesmaid is a bridesmaid married or not.

(Is there such a thing as bridesmatron?)
