THERE ARE MANY DESCIPTIONS IN THE SASTRAS
The Bhagavatam tells us
tasmad gurum prapadyeta
jijnasuh sreya uttamam
sabde pare ca nisnatam
brahmany upasamasrayam
One who is searching for the Ultimate Truth must surrender to a guru who knows the inner meaning of the Vedas, is fixed in the Absolute Truth and is expert in the sastra. (Bhag. 11.3.21)
In this verse "sabde pare ca nisthnanam" means realisation of the Vedas and The supreme truth, God
and "upasamasrayam" means having taken full shelter of God the Guru will be detached (from material things)
Theses are some of the desciptions of the qualifications of sat Guru, but another way is to see the disqualifications of Guru
Srila Jiva Gosvami has writen as follows
vaisnava-vidvesi cet parityajya eva. "guror api avaliptasye" ti smaranat, vaisnava-bhava-rahityena avaisnavataya avaisnavopadisteneti vacana-visaya tvacca. Yathokta-laksanasya sri-guror-avidyamanatayastu tasyaiva maha-bhagavatasyaikasya nitya-sevanam paramam sreyah.
A guru who is envious of pure devotees, who blasphemes them, or behaves maliciously towards them should certainly be abandoned, remembering the verse
"guror api avaliptasya" . Such an envious guru lacks the mood and character of a Vaisnava. The sastras enjoin that one should not accept initiation from a non-devotee (avaisnavopadistena... ) Knowing these injunctions of the scriptures, a sincere devotee abandons a false guru who is envious of devotees.
After leaving one who lacks the true qualities of a guru, if a devotee is without a spiritual guide, his only hope is to seek out a mahabhagavata vaisnava and serve
him. By constantly rendering service to such a pure devotee, one will certainly attain the highest goal of life. (Bhakti-sandarbha, Annucheda 238)
Remember the minimuim Qualification of a Guru is to be a
madyamadhikar
Srimad-Bhagavatam (11.2.46) describes the behavior of the madhyama Vaisnava as follows:
isvare tad-adhinesu balisesu dvisatsu ca
prema-maitri-krpopeksa yah karoti sa madhyamah
A madhyama-bhagavata is one who loves Isvara, is friendly towards His bhaktas, shows mercy towards those who are ignorant of bhakti, and neglects those who are inimical to Isvara or His bhaktas.
The behavior being described here is classified in the realm of nitya-dharma.
A Vaisnava’s behavior is directed towards four categories of individuals: isvara, the Supreme Lord; tad-adhina, His bhaktas; balisa, materialistic people who are ignorant of spiritual truth; and dvesi, those who are opposed to bhakti. A Vaisnava shows love, friendship, mercy, and neglect respectively to these four kinds of individuals. In other words, he behaves lovingly towards Isvara, with friendship towards the bhaktas, and mercifully towards the ignorant; he neglects those who are inimical.
The first characteristic of a madhyama Vaisnava is that he has prema for Sri Krsna, who is the Supreme Lord of all. The word prema here refers to suddha-bhakti, whose symptoms have been described as follows in Bhakti-rasamrta-sindhu (1.1.11):
anyabhilasita-sunyam jnana-karmady-anavrtam
anukulyena krsnanusilanam bhaktir uttama
“The cultivation of activities that are meant exclusively for the pleasure of Krishna or in other words the uninterrupted flow of service to Krishna performed through all endeavours of the body, mind and speech, and through the expression of various spiritual sentiments (bhavas), which is not covered by jnana(knowledge aimed at impersonal liberation) and karma(reward-seeking
activity), and which is devoid of all desires other than the
aspiration to bring happiness to Krishna is called uttama-bhakti, pure devotional service.”

Go to the lotus feet of that Guru and learn how to get the Divine knowledge. By expressing utmost respect and devotion to your Guru he will be pleased.
Ask him about your doubts in perfect manner. He will give you the supreme knowledge.

CHAPTER 17 - VERSE 2 OF BHAGAWAT GITA-
The Supreme Personality of Godhead said: According to the modes of nature acquired by the embodied soul, one’s faith can be of three kinds—in goodness, in passion or in ignorance. Now hear about this.
PURPORT
Those who know the rules and regulations of the scriptures but out of laziness or indolence give up following these rules and regulations are governed by the modes of material nature. According to their previous activities in the mode of goodness, passion or ignorance, they acquire a nature which is of a specific quality. The association of the living entity with the different modes of nature has been going on perpetually; since the living entity is in contact with material nature, he acquires different types of mentality according to his association with the material modes. But this nature can be changed if one associates with a bona fide spiritual master and abides by his rules and the scriptures. Gradually, one can change his position from ignorance to goodness, or from passion to goodness. The conclusion is that blind faith in a particular mode of nature cannot help a person become elevated to the perfectional stage. One has to consider things carefully, with intelligence, in the association of a bona fide spiritual master. Thus one can change his position to a higher mode of nature.-
