Yes, I speak French. I have been living and working in French speaking countries for several years. I currently live in a territory of France and speak French most of the time (although I usually speak English with my family).
One of my most important jobs at work is English/French translation (written) and interpretation (spoken) I have just started doing English tutoring again for French speaking people who wish to learn English, something I have done before.
Speaking both French and English has opened many doors of opportunity for work in foreign countries and has allowed my family and I to travel extensively.

I used to be able to speak it fairly well. I haven't practiced for over two years now so I kinda suck. I'm a student in college with a major in International Business. I'd like to learn the language once and for all so that I'll have a better chance of being hired by companies that do business with the French speaking countries of the world (France, Canada, etc.) I'd also like to travel to both of these countries one day and not have to rely on speaking to the people in English. The way I see it would show a lot more respect to the people that you're actually making the effort to communicate in their language, something Americans are not very well known for doing when we travel abroad.

Oui, je parle français - I'm a native speaker. I'm originally from Quebec, Canada and used to speak French all the time (home, school, work, everyday life in general), but now that I've moved to another province, I only use it at work with some of my coworkers and with a few of my friends (I'm a translator, English to French). Contrary to popular belief, although Canada is an officially bilingual country, most of its people (not counting recent and not so recent immigration) speak fluently either English (the vast majority) OR French (mostly in Quebec, but also in New Brunswick, and some areas of Ontario, Manitoba and other places). Of course, everyone studies both official languages in school but, in Quebec for example, if you get out of Montreal - the multicultural city *par excellence* in Quebec - you might find it harder to find someone who speaks fluent English (not counting the few English speaking areas of the province, of course).

I speak French a little, but not well. And my comprehension of it is horrible. But I have used it (badly) in France and in Quebec Provence, Canada. In both countries most people have some degree of proficiency in English. HOWEVER, if you come in assuming that they will speak English with you, forget it. But if you will simply make the effort to speak French, then they will generally stop you and suggest that we continue the conversation in English. But they do expect, and appreciate, that effort to speak their language. Just as we would here.

No. French classes are very expensive... but it's one of my long-term goals.. to learn French as a third language!!!
Good Luck learning..
I asked one of my friends in Europe and she said the smartest language to learn is French because it's the one that's used the most... so you won't have a problem on when or how to use it!!!
