After a rain storm, I was standing outside watching small river-lets of water race toward a ditch along side the road where I live. Suddenly, a tiny twig fell from the tree in back of me and landed in one of these water runways. I stared at the twig as it made it's way toward the ditch and I started to think about how fleeting life is, this twig did it's duty, gathering the necessities for a larger part of the tree and now ends up on the ground, racing toward a ditch. Just before the twig plunged in the ditch, a large blue jay swooped down and plucked the twig from the water and u-turned back up into that same tree behind me. Now the twig will play a new role, helping to repair a nest damaged in the storm that promoted the twig's fall.
What is inspiring about this? We are the twig. The tree is existence. Death is the storm. The blue jay is the memories of love and laughter we leave in the minds of those you leave behind. Those memories are very useful to those who go on after us. What a wonderful thing!!!

Well, I was going to say the thought of giving and receiving Selfless Love.

But having read the details you've provided, I'd have to say my son's teddy bear, which I have above my monitor so I see it whenever I am at my desk.

He has a sad look on his face, and I understand it so well.

The teddy bear is just a little smaller than my son when he was born.

At some point I will put it in a large mason jar to keep it safe and to preserve the smell of it (talc). But right now ... I need to be able ot hold it from time to time.
