Go to the following websites for answers. Must do your own research and NOT listen to anyone but your own inner wisdom. DOGS ARE CARNIVORES, which means MEAT EATERS. They would normally eat a rabbit or some other herbivore (eats vegees) in the wild. SO ... picture a rabbit ... mostly bones, mostly meat, a little bit of organs and a stomach which probably contains vegees that the rabbit would eat. This is what a dog would eat. RAW MEAT. Want whiter teeth, fresher breath, less poop, shiney coat, happy dog???? GO RAW. Dogs digestive tracks are different from human. They have been eating raw since time began and sometimes rotten meat and they don't get salminella and e-coli. Their systems can handle it. Dry dog foods are NOT NATURAL. Bones are dangerous ONLY IF THEY ARE COOKED. RAW BONES ARE GOOD FOR DOGS. Go to following websites and see for yourself. These people have been feeding their dogs for years on raw and have pics of the dogs and everything. Go raw ... you won't regret it.

Raw meat is not a natural diet. A natural diet would be the entire body of a dead animal plus plant material grazed in the environment, so complete nutrition can be accomplished. Raw meat usually contains parasites and harmful bacteria, and raw or cooked bones present potential health risks. There are plenty of good dog foods out there that were not on the recall list.

The title of your question is concerning. Can you please specify what you are feeding as this diet consists of more than just meat. It contains meat, bone and organs. It will not be nutritionally sound if you are missing any of those components. Make sure you aren't feeding enhanced meats. Poultry is especially notorious for this. Often times the cheap poultry will have solutions added. These contain high amounts of salt which can cause explosive diarrhea and other side effects. Your diet needs troubleshooting, not changing back to kibble.

Do not feed the raw food diet. You risk many types of parasite and bacterial infections to your dog as well as yourself. Veterinarians cannot recommend this diet due to the human health risk the raw diet causes. Flint River Ranch is an excellent diet that is made here in America with American ingredients. go to flintriverranch.com and look that up. It is a fantastic diet- 98% ddigestible. It helps with allergies, improves their coats and a great plus- less stool! They absorb most of the nutrients- so less yard clean up. No, I do not sell this- I have been feeding my dogs this for years- and have had incredibly healthy animals.

I fed every type of dog diet there is except BARF. I never fed BARF because I have never been convinced that it is even equal to a good quality commercial diet. I have close friends that fed BARF and they are fanatics about it, raving that it is just the best and citing all sorts of reason, mostly philosophical, of why it is the best. The don't tell you about the down side. And there are downsides, but since I don't feed it I'm not the one to relate them. As for the food recall there were very few (actually only one that I recall) of the really good dog foods or super premiums on the recall list. If you have educated yourself concerning dog food and feed a super premium then it is my opinion that you can't do better.

This group is really helpful about starting a raw prey model diet. It is meat, bones, and organs only. It is a myth that a dog would eat the stomach contents of prey. (see the above raw myths list)...

Good luck. I feed raw, and believe it is what is best for dogs. I've seen the health benefits myself.

There were quite a few people on Dodgerslist.com who changed over to the raw diet after the pet food recall. They seemed pleased. There are lots of websites about feeding raw. I considered it, but with 3 little piggies it would have been cost prohibitive. I do make their food, just not entirely raw.

I honestly don't know if your dog's digestive system can handle all of the raw meat. I can understand your not wanting to buy processed food. What if you cooked the meat first?
