I thought they were the same thing. They both have cinnamon in it.

Both have a yeast dough. The honey bun is rolled, sliced, allowed to rise, slightly, then is usually deep fried. It is then coated with a honey based glaze.

For the cinnamon roll...it is usually rolled up with just cinnamon or cinnamon and sugar between the layers, sliced, allowed to rise, then deep friend or baked. It is either sprinkled with cinnamon/sugar or glazed with a milk/powdered sugar mixture.

Honey buns don't have much cinnamon, if any (at least, not the ones I've seen.)

Cinnamon rolls tend to have a big fat swirl of cinnamon-sugar-butter twisted up in them and icing on top. Honey buns are twisted but have honey on them, or honey syrup.

Cinnamon rolls are better. Spicier. Better. Mmmmm...cinnamon rolls.

Though, as a term of endearment, I'd rather be called "Honey Bun" than "Cinnamon Roll."

Honey bun has a stronger sexual connotation than cinnamon roll. I may use honey bun if I am thinking about a roll in the hay. If I am going out I may say cinnamon roll.

A honey bun is when the guy slaps his girl's butt, a cinnamon roll is when the two get entangled in very provocative positions.

I think the honey bun is dripped into icing glaze and a cinnamon roll is not, unless you put white icing or cream cheese icing on it. So people sprinkle white powder sugar on cinn. buns. honey buns have another name too sticky buns, becuz of the glaze.
