1 diet - the type of foods you eat and the quality of the nutrition you receive
2 metabolism - how you body metabolizes the nutritional components you consume
3 lifestyle - whether you have an active or sedentary lifestyle

It's all in the metabolism! Some people just burn calories faster and easier and others need to workout to boost there metabolism!
