As long as you consume your food while on board. Some countries (Australia, for instance) would not allow you to bring food into the country. Penalties are severe.

Just to add to Marsha answer : Its better to check with the airline itself. Some budget airlines do not allow you to consume the food you brought on to the plane (they want you to buy theirs).
I remembered I brought sashimi unto a plane once and was told I couldnt eat it by the time I got off (about 2 1/2hours later) the sushi was bad ... what a waste of good sashimi

British airlines from the place? If US, sure nutrition is okay: purely no drinks can bypass in the process the protection checkpoint. you could still purchase drinks (water/soda) interior the terminals and take on the airplane too. this is a sturdy concept to hold a minimum of snacks. Heck, carry an entire picnic basket in case you could %. it. With the way those airlines are performing these days you need to be caught on a runway or in the terminal with no longer something to consume for weeks.

Yes, the only restriction is on liquids that must go through security. When you have liquids they must comply with the 3-1-1 rule. 3-1-1 for carry-ons = 3 ounce bottle or less; 1 quart-sized, clear, plastic, zip-top bag; 1 bag per passenger placed in screening bin. One-quart bag per person limits the total liquid volume each traveler can bring. 3 oz. container size is a security measure.
