Never been on meds before and yesterday my doc prescribed Lexapro. I was curious if anyone has anything good or bad to say about it? Thanks!

I've been taking Lexapro since November. I'm very thankful that my doc prescribed me this drug. I was struggling with depression, anxiety, and impulsive behavior - all of which has now been drastically decreased. The only side effect I experienced was excessive yawning, and that went away within a couple of days.

Lexapro is definitely worth a try. However, it's important to remember that it needs to be taken as prescribed, and remember not to quit taking it unless the doctor tapers you off...you'll feel REALLY icky if you don't.

Good luck with things. Email me if you have any questions about my experiences.

Lexapro is simplest the moment antidepressant I've ever taken and it is been a gorgeous constructive revel in. I used to be on Zoloft for just about two years (approximately five+ years in the past) and used to be as much as 200mgs/day and nonetheless felt loopy and lovely dangerous typically. Zoloft did not anything for my nervousness. I used to be off all meds for a couple of years and hit my lowest backside but in July of 2006 (delusions, suicide crap, paranoia, nervousness/panic assaults). I used to be placed on 10 mgs of Lexapro in early November along side the .5mgs of Ativan (for the nervousness/panic assaults). I used to be to take the Ativan "as wanted". The Ativan made me believe quality considering I bought hooked on it just about instantly. The Lexapro felt find it irresistible used to be doing not anything for me. I used to be raised to 20mgs of Lexapro in December and approximately two weeks later I began to believe particularly well for no intent. It used to be ultimately operating. I used to be switched off the Ativan and placed on Klonopin in January and that's operating good for my nervousness and I have now not come to be hooked on it. I used to be feeling higher at the 20mgs of Lexapro however, truthfully, I used to be nonetheless depressed. I simply wasn't out of my brain and suicidal anymore. I used to be raised to 30mgs final month and thus far I've been feeling even higher. I felt a couple of temper swings right here and there that I under no circumstances particularly had earlier than (I used to simply be depressed) however I've been feeling very steady the final week or 2. I have had NO weight obtain whatever and I've truthfully misplaced over 10 lbs seeing that opening at the meds, quite often considering I'm now not scared to go away my apartment as a lot and I get extra pastime. Side results I've had: When I used to be first placed on Lexapro, I had very uncomfortable nausea for a couple of days however as soon as it handed I used to be first-class. Each time my dosage is raised, I have an afternoon or 2 in which I have nausea but it surely continually passes and I'm first-class once more. That's it, no different facet results that I've spotted from the Lexapro.

Very good med; my only complaint was sleepiness but I think that was dose related.
Also, begin an exercise program asap. Antidepressants and weight gain go hand in hand, but you can prevent yourself from going to pot by beginning to exercise now.
Exercise also helps the med work better.

Been on it for eight months now--best thing that ever happened to me. It has slowed my impulsive thinking and helped me think about things without reacting with hostility. I love it and wish everyone could have the luck I've had with it.
Any questions--email me.

My husband had to take that. It was working very well for him, but he didn't think so. Stubborn fool! So, he quit taking it. I wish he would still. He just to darn stubborn though. He thinks he is alway's right. (And he's not!)
