Science is a long hallway of increasingly improved knowledge. It questions itself. There is no such thing as absolute truth in science, because truth is thought of as an ever-expanding horizon as successive improvement in knowledge takes place. The hallway keeps stretching forward.
Religions claim to already have attained the absolute truth. Religious people do not hold meetings to discuss whether some passage of their book may be mistaken or wrong. So there is is no successive improvement...only dogma.
Compared with the analogy of scientific thought being a long ever-expanding hallway, Religious thought is a closet!

Lately, now that I've taken the time to actually read some of its less well-publicized and horrific contents, I find the bible to be a source of personal repulsion that grows.

No Catholic could have faith that. God's non-stop revelation to us isn't very almost the Bible. this is bearing directly to the circulation of the Holy Spirit by way of heritage (custom) and in our hearts right here and now. Whoever looks just to the Bible for his or her source of non secular wisdom is responsible of idolatry: worshipping the Bible somewhat of God.

The bible is to the true believer, what Dick and Jane is to the reader. Once you hook up with The Spirit that inspired scripture, you no longer need a book.

Your knowledge will grow. Your knowledge of God will grow. Your understanding of what you know will grow.
The Bible is the Word of God, and therefore part of God, who is omniscient. It doesn't grow.
