I am just curious as a moderate believer in god. I have this worry that too many people take their love of god to an obsessive level. esp on this website.

it is intriguing
I am here every day almost without fail ... been here a year
I am no obsessed with God but just love the whole R&S thing and the people in it

What, pray tell, is a "moderate believer"?
Is that anything like the Laodecian in Revelation?
Regardless...
You mistake love, devotion, and commitment for obsession.
Unrequited love is obsessive. God loves me more.
Devotion without cause is obsessive. God & Jesus Christ deserve my devotion.
Committment without knowledge is obsessive. The Holy Bible contains the most profound, unchanging, reliable, relevant knowledge/truths to be found on Earth.
I have scrolled the other forums, have you? Sheeesh, I have no raging desire to discuss Paris Hilton, her dog, her underwear, or her phobias.
I am appalled by & refuse to contribute to "how do I get him to leave his wife, fiance, girlfriend, so he will "do it" with me" hot topics either.
Or the insane posts that say, "I am 15, am I old enough to get breast implants? Will they make me look hotter to guys?
And the responses to all the above are often worse and most assuredly juvenile and fithy.
There are enough mental midgets in R&S, who seek to destroy the true purpose of the R&S forum to deal with.

Easy, You are either Hot or Cold for Jesus You cannot be in the middle or Luke warm, or as you put it, "moderate" you are either for Him 100% or against Him, 100%
Jesus Said Rev 3:15 "I know all the things you do, that you are neither hot nor cold. I wish you were one or the other!
Rev 3:16 But since you are like lukewarm water, I will spit you out of my mouth!

R&S is a great section. The people here are mostly adults, many of us work, and are educated. Therefore we have some time on our hands either at work or while the kids nap. We have interesting perspectives to share because we represent different belief systems, and we all have one common goal - to get to the truth.

It's ok to be obsessive about God. He is obsessive about us. He loves us so much He sent His Son to pay the penalty for sin. That is a mighty big love. I want to live my life loving Him back.
I am curious about your moderate faith. You may want to read about how Jesus feels about those who are lukewarm.

Because they want to. Also, because people are learning about others or defending their beliefs when others make false statements. I don't think its obsessive at all. We are all passionate about something right?
