Well I would say no. My dad is a priest and I don't believe we have any services on the 4th. And there is also that whole part of the constitution that has a seperation of church and state and I would say that the 4th of July has so much to do with the nation, rather than the church. So I don't think you have to.

You don't ever have to go to church, but if a loved one died serving their country (be it solder, police, fire fighter, cop) it seems like a good thing to do. Many family gatherings have a few minutes of prayer to thank their luck for living in a place with as many freedoms as we have and how we got them.

Funny you should ask....in the 1928 Book of Common Prayer it is a "Prayer Book Holy Day"

No, you don't have to go. If your church is having a service and you feel obligated you can. I imagine if they are having one, it's a service of thanksgiving for our country.
