There's no reason why they would. Our own emotions and thoughts are complex because we are able to build complex relationships with other humans and carry out very complex behaviour. Plants don't and can't. Only a very cruel God would make plants sentient because then they would know how powerless they were over their own destiny.

I have heard of plants having these sorts of 'feelings'.There is a lot we have to learn about out leafy friends.

For that to have they'd need a nervous system or something that does the same. They haven't so : No.

(If they did, I wonder what vegans would do)
