The Beast was exactly what he was a Beast. Mike was such a good body puncher that most people forget about him because of fighters like Mugabi and Julian Jackson whom him whooped, as well as that Mike Tyson guy overshadowed him throughout his career. Of course The Beast is the stronger fighter but I think Mike has the better chin of the two. I see Mike winning by 6TKO. Mike with exceptional power, solid body punches and his better chin wins this fight. I love The Beast but he lacks a good solid chin and in this fight it gets exposed.

Good match up. Mccallum was a great light middleweight champion and a very underrated fighter, who was avoided like the plauge by all the big name fashionable fighters such as Leonard,Duran etc. Mugabi was a great fighter also with great punching power but he didnt have the boxing skills that Mccallum had, and Mccallum had a pretty good punch also at light middleweight check out his ko of Don Curry for example. I pick Mccallum to win by late K0 or unanimously on points.

This is a good matchup and would have made for a good fight too. Both men are about equal in height and reach. Mugabi has a slight edge in power and McCallum is perhaps a better boxer with a better body attack. This fight would be very even for 10 rounds. Assuming you are talking about a 15 rounder here, I believe Mugabi wins the championship rounds 11-15 and wins a close fight.

Mugabi was as fearsome a puncher as the 154-160 lb divisions has ever seen. Unfortunately his chin was a little on the soft side. Mike McCallum was a very underrated champion, a terrific boxer and phenomenal body puncher. I think he would have weathered Mugabi's early storm and then wear him down en route to a TKO in the 9th or 10th round

John "The Beast" Mugabi was just that! He came within an inch of beating prime Hagler in one of the greatest knockdown drag-out fights of all-time. Neither Mugabi or Hagler was ever the same afterward. I would say that pre-Hagler Mugabi would, in fact, rip McCallum's head off, and let it rain down his neck.

It would be a good fight for six or seven rounds and after that, Mike's class of talent will show.He would pull away to either win on late stoppage or unanimous decision over 15.
