There are many misconceptions about Jesus (pun intended).
Some think his mother was, is, and always will be a virgin.
Most Christians think he was from a middle class family.
Simply put there are many stupid ideas about Jesus that are wrong even from what the Bible says, that's not even getting into logic and common sense of why the story is crazy.
If the modern Christian concept of Jesus were real then he shouldn't have been born and raised illiterate so he could have answered a few questions reliably, not by hand me down quotes from about a hundred years after he died or left depending on your point of view.
If it were real he should have been born in 1987, and be currently hanging out in front of Home Depot because he'd a day laborer. In a few years he'd discover the Junior Collage system and write several well informed controversial books before being assassinated by the CIA.
At least there would have been direct evidence of his mission. Either Gods timing sucks or he's really a mean SOB to make a plan of salvation that can hardly be confirmed. Why didn't he just have Jesus born during the stone age. Oh yeah, NM you guys don't believe in the stone age.
He obviously didn't like his home town or family based on some of the things he said, and he had LOTS of brothers and sisters, so much for a perpetual virgin mother.

It's a good point. There are, of course, lots of people who have died more horrible deaths. For one thing, it was over surprisingly fast, the Bible says.
Add to that the mental anguish that can be, in many ways, far worse. It is said by believers that he had to undergo this while knowing he was innocent. So the story says, but then he was also God and knew that he was saving the souls of possibly billions and that he was the one who established the system whereby his death was necessary to appease his anger under his system of justice, so it's not like he felt the despair of thinking his death was in vain. Many have suffered physically crueler suffering knowing they were innocent but not believing that their death served any good purpose.
Furthermore, he was giving up physical restrictions of the body knowing with the certainty only a god could know things that he was about to rule heaven and get revenge on all those who didn't love him as he demanded. He knew he was going to be at the right hand of God and be God at the same time- what was the sacrifice? How many have died without any hope of revenge, of justice of any sort? There's no comparison, really, yet we are to believe that this was the greatest suffering and sacrifice ever.

Yes JESUS had suffered much for man. In a general way if I say that Pilate had no desire to put JESUS to death and there by he had JESUS be lashed so that the leaders seeing HIS bruised body would let HIM go but when they insisted HE was crucified but generally the people who were being crucified were not lashed as was the case with the robbers who were crucified with HIM. But that turned out to be for our benefit as the sin which we would had commit ed by our head (that is through thinking evil) HE was made to wear a crown of thorns. The sin which we would had committed by our eyes ears (that is through hearing or listening evil) HE was he was punched on the face. The sin which we would had committed by our body HE was lashed. The sin which we would had committed by our hand and feet HE was nailed. The sin which we would had committed through our tounge (that is through speaking evil) HE was made to bitter vinegar. By all the agony and suffering HIS death on the cross was and is and will remain unparallelled.

That He suffered the infinite suffering of hell in His infinite Nature to deliver you (and all others) from that suffering in your finite nature.....
Surely even a child could understand that is more than any man could bear and it's extent is beyond our knowing ? ? ?
It is hard to know how to answer in the face of such ignorance and complacency - perhaps if I take your words, that His suffering was indeed far worse than any could conceive for the salvation of billions - that indeed was what He suffered - else how could any be saved?
His physical sufferings, intense and extreme as they were, formed but a tiny part of the sufferings endured for your salvation and the salvation of others.
And was that all in vain for so many who lightly pass over or reject?
How sad, how terrible if they turn away, to count all He suffered for them as naught and in so doing cannot then escape the sufferings He died to save them from.
He has done His part - what more could He do?
What makes people so hard hearted to their own destruction?

wasn't he hanging next to a guy in the same situation? I think many humans have endured equal or greater physical suffering and that is not a contest worth entering, I for one am not excited about the thought of hold the Guinness record for most suffering endured. I think the suffering and the story are supposed to be allegorical and not historical. Jesus and or his writers were master story tellers as evidenced by the parables. The suffering jesus or his father aspect was experiencing was the joy lost in the souls of those who were becoming lost. If jesus took on their suffering, allegorically of course then maybe they could find the joy that was awaiting them in the arms of the father

I don't think we can begin to comprehend the suffering that Jesus went through on the way to the cross, then hanging on the cross. I think our human minds can't begin to realize what He went through.
All because He loved/loves us soooo much. We can't begin to comprehend that kind of love either.
That's why it's so hard to understand why people are so nasty on this board and will post nasty comments about this. Jesus died for YOU ALL TOO!!!! He gives us life when we deserve death. It is a GIFT He gives to us....it's up to us if we choose Him or reject Him.
Jesus was hanging with a thief on each side of Him. One of the theives realized Jesus was who He said and the thief said remember me when you get to heaven, and Jesus told the thief, you'll be in heaven with me today. I didn't quote cause I don't know if I got it word for word.
But Jesus had a crown of thorns stuck into His head. He had other things done to Him (not sure what) that the other two didn't have to endure.

I think Jesus is going to show you about His suffering. It is interesting that you are contemplating about how much He suffered. I think you are going to receive insight into this thought and then you will be ministering to others about it. How this is going to happen I do not know. You are going to have a special revelation about this, you are blessed to understand.

the physical death was horrible hundred of years before it happened the prophet Isaiah said it was so bad you couldn't tell if he was human. We say he suffered the most of any person because he had constant fellowship with His Father. Jesus didn't have to die, He chose to die. "No one takes my life from me, I lay it down on my own accord, I have power to lay it down and I have power to take it up again". When Jesus was on the cross and the sins of the world were upon Him, thats when he cried out "my God, my God, why have you forsaken me?" It was at this time, the relationship that Jesus had with His Father was cut off because sin has separated us from God. Jesus being God in flesh put restrictions on His own deity in order to identify with man. hope this helps. By the way, we will never fully understand this in our finite minds and because no one on earth with the acception of Jesus has ever lived a perfect life, but He did because He was God.

He was treated pretty much the same as countless thieves & murderers before him. The Romans crucified thousands...so how is Jesus' "sacrifice" any more than the other common criminals crucified by the Romans?
