I don't know what to do, he seems really uncomfortable and I am giving him pain medicine. What else can I do to comfort him? I even bought him a new toy!

The best thing after surgery is to let him sleep. It can take several days for the anesthesia to get completely out of his system.

No toys today. He needs to be kept as comfortable as possible and quiet. He should not go running around for several days. I am sure your vet gave you instructions on caring for him. The best thing you can do is be there for him when he needs you.

In just about 24 hours to the minute, he will start feeling lots better than he does now. It will be hard to believe he seemed so ill today. Kudos to you for being a responsible dog owner. I know it's a hard thing to to sometimes but you did the right thing and by tomorrow he will be feeling lots better.

Comfort the dog by usual petting, treat him with foods if your vet says its alright. The dog will be uncomfortable for a while, all you can do is give the medicine and be there.

He's probably a little uncomfortable, but if he has any redness or oozing, I would call the vet.
Most dogs handle this relatively well... he may be more upset about being at the clinic, strange smells, strange anesthetic feeling and being around strangers all day.

Give him a comfortable, warm bed, make sure he's not too warm though. Make sure he can see or hear you and that he has access to water if he wants it and leave him to rest. He will be uncomfortable and miserable but will just want to sleep until he feels better.

He should be back to his self in no time. There is really not too much you can do for him right now though. I would just suggest that you make sure he takes his pain meds properly and let him just relax and get plenty of rest. Rest is the best thing for him right now. Props to you for getting him neutered and I hope he is feeling better soon! : )

Let him rest, make sure he is comfortable, has access to food and fresh water, and generally let him know you are there.. You don't want to suck him up, you'll create a dog that plays sick just for attention.

Keep the dog inactive and allow it to rest. Leave it alone. It'll take just a few days and back to normal.

If your dog is depressed or stressed out you can put a couple of drops of rescue remedy in its food or water and it really helps them feel better.

Tell him your sorry... Did you at least have the decency of getting him the fake nuts so when he licks down there he can at least pretend?
