Does that mean they're denouncing their own god? After all, Allah is the same Abrahamic god of the Jews and Christians.

What's the deal??

I'm generalizing, huh? Then why are there hundreds of questions and answers stating that Allah is NOT the same god or that he is a false god?

From what I've seen, a good many so-called Christians know very little about their own religion, let alone other religions. Take those who get pissed off at seeing "Xmas" and "Xtian" as "taking the Christ out of Christmas," not knowing the the true origin of the use of the Greek letter "chi" (which is written "X") as an abbreviation of "Christ," as "Christ," when written in Greek (y'know, the guys who helped introduce the Bible to the Western world), begins with an "X." Go up to your average churchgoer and ask him/her what the significant of the Synod of Hippo held in 393 was and they'd give you a blank look. If they know so little about their OWN religion, how do you expect them to be knowledgable about another religion?

Oh and PS - as I know at least someone will bring up the old tired "Allah is a moon god" saw - "Allah" is merely the Arabic word for 'God." Arabic Christians and Jews pray to "Allah." Is a Frenchman worshipping a different god because he's praying to "Dieu?" Is a German worshipping a different god when he prays to "Mein Gott in Himmel?" Definitely not - nor is a Arab praying to some obscure false god when he prays to "Allah."

Oh and Greg M - Jews have a different message about Christ than Christian - does that mean they worship a different God than you? Presbyterians have a different view of God than Methodists - do they worship a different God?

Actually I am christian and Ive never heard that we though allah was a false God. Most know they are based on the same God. Muslims follows Mohammed Christians go with Jesus.

But I dont know any christian stupid enough that thinks they are not based on the same individual. They just went different ways. If some christians believe that they are either uneducated or have never read the bible or any other religious books.

It does surprise me sometimes, but what is most surprising is some people even refuse the concept that the word "Allah" litterally means "The God".

In other words, He's the same God, but is not accepted because Muslims use the Arabic word of it!

Oh well, to each his/her own belief.

Peace.

God and Allah (and Yaweh) are the equal. Nowhere does God/Allah/Yaweh say to blow some thing up. However, individuals claiming to be devout have performed factor's in God's title for hundreds of years. Christians aren't any larger - consider the Crusades? The Inquisition? European touch with the natives of North and South America? Africa? Etc. There are loonies all over the place. It is unhappy while they are trying to justify themselves via faith - God/Allah/Yaweh is a God of peace.

Apparently you are making a judgement based on very few Christians.

Catholics do not say Allah is a false god. Our Catechism teaches that our cousins the Jews and Muslims are all children of Abraham. We worship the same God. Just in different ways.

the reason christians believe Allah is a false god (yes, i am a christian) is because......well, look. Muslims say that they are about love but they believe in jijhad (i'm not sure if i spelled that right) which means "Holy war." their whole purpose is to kill all the jews and they say it would be better if the U.S. was wiped off the map. Now, unless i'm insane, that doesn't sound like love to me.

Well you can't speak for all Christians and neither can I , but I know and others that I associate with consider Allah the same GOD as my GOD. I have relaized we all worship and love the same GOD, but some people don't think the same as me. I don't think its fair that you say Christians in general because you can not speak for all Christians and you have to realize people are entitiled to thier own opinions and you might not like them but its always good to respect them. But I as a christian can say that I know that Allah is the same as my GOD. Just 1 GOD with many different names is all.

It depends on the sect of Christianity and the individual. I do not believe Allah is a false God nor do I demean other faiths.

Arab Christians call the Triune God "Allah," as it is the Arabic word for "God," but I am sure this is not what you mean.

The true God is the Triune God -- Father, Son, Spirit. Take divinity from one, and it's a different god.
