Squirrels are sooooo nutty!
Seriously, Joan of Arc was really the daughter of Jacques and Isabelle d'Arc. Her real name was Jeannette d'Arc; she was the youngest of their 5 children, born Jan 6, 1412. The family lived in the small French community of Domremy, where little Jeannette was taught normal "girl" things like sewing, cooking, and spinning, as well as to be a good Catholic girl.
At the age of 13, little Jeannette began recieving visions from a number of angels and saints, calling her into a ministry. When, at the age of 18, Jeannette began her mission, her name was changed to "Jeanne, la Pucelle" or "Joan, the Maid". She was known by her family name, d'Arc, and by her religious/military title, the Maid of Orleans.
Noah, the Biblical character, is not known to have a surname. He is remembered for building the Ark, a cattle-carrier the size of at least 3 football fields. He is not known to have any female children, only 3 sons (Shem, Ham, and Japeth).
The fact that Noah built an ark (boat) and Saint Jeannette had the last name of d'Arc are, of course, coincidence.
