Libby was covering for the white house, that was not the case in the Clinton's pardons.
By pardoning Libby, Bush was protecting himself and the Vice-president.

People do not remember back very far and she likely will not be challenged by the media for making these assertions. It also is a sure way to fire up her political supporters and raise even greater amounts of money than she already has.
People do not always understand when candidates make sophisticated arguments about tax or spending policies. They do understand, however, when somebody who has been convicted gets a commutation, if not yet a full pardon from the president. She is, for better or worse, simply a good example of somebody who has learned to play the game of politics really really well.

I think, regardless of who was pardoned during the Clinton administration, that the potential pardoning of Libby is outrageous.
President Bush has rejected more then 4,000 requests for pardons, has over 1800 pending and has time to pardon one man. A rich and powerful man, a former chief of staff to the vice-president (who is in my opinion the secound most powerful man in the US), a man who has never, and probably will never see prision a day in his life.
Forget the potentially 4000+ wrongly accused "ordinary" people. I am a pre-law student and though I have much faith in our justice system, there are flaws, and the most powerful man over the system, won't help ordinary people. He commuted Libby's sentence, BEFORE IT EVER BEGAN.
This means Libby will spend ZERO time in jail like everyone else but will have to pay $250,000 dollars (like that's a lot to him) and spend two years on probation (so he has to watch himself for two years) however with a pardon from Bush it will be wiped clean from his record so he can be employed anywhere else (except potentially the government).
He needs to be held accountable, just like everyone else, for his actions. Nobody forced him or held a gun to his head.I agree that the Bush administration is out of touch with today's federal sentencing guidelines. People like Libby — first-time, nonviolent offenders — receive lengthy sentences every day yet nothing is done about it.
The average term for Libby's crimes is 5 years. If the president wouldn't have commuatation his sentence he would've (GASP!) been in the same boat as everyone else. I have a hard time seeing that the vice-president, and maybe even the president didn't know about Libby's actions, it hits closer to the top then almost ever before. These are the people "running" the country.

Every president has the right to pardon... Ronald Reagan, Dwight David Eisenhower, Gerald Ford, Richard Nixon were all PROMINENT REPUBLICAN PRESIDENTS and each pardoned some well known and NOT so well known but NOTOREOUS criminals-.... One of the biggest was the pardon of RICHARD NIXON by Gerald Ford..... Hiliary's problem was that her BROTHERS accepted money from people that Bill Clinton eventually pardoned....Hiliary didn't benefit nor did BILL, but those nasty brothers of Hiliary's DID.....I checked on this on the internet... Now, King George comes out and PARDONS this guy who never saw a DAY in jail because his "SENTENCE WAS OBSESSIVE"??? that was such BS it isn't funny. Mr, Scooter Libby basically committed TREASON---he definitely committed perjury, Obstruction of justice and Made MANY MANY false statements (LIED) to federal prosecutors time and time again and RISKED the lives of a female CIA OPERATIVE and her ENTIRE FAMILY by BLABBING her existence and job all over the place. Ronald Reagan pardoned the man we knew as DEEP THROAT and several others of reputed fame..... thing is, these people that ALL presidents have PARDONED have been CONVICTED CRIMINALS.... and Cliton is not the only president guilty of pardoning convicted criminals-----what DO you think Scooter Libby Is anyway???? You may not personaly like any of the candidates running for office although I do see how you couldn't because you don't PERSONALLY KNOW ANY OF THEM.... so basically it's their politics you don't like--and remember, Hiliary is NOT BILL CLINTON and vice versa.....If you can name me ONE PRESIDENT of modern times who didn't wrongly PARDON someone---I'd be VERY surprised.....even our Mr. Ronald Reagan made a few blunders in HIS choices for pardons...

Yes, she's full of gall and dog poop! And rumor was that things came up missing when the Clintons left the White House. Now do we want someone like that to be our leader?

I do not like Hillary. I will not vote for Hillary. I think she is as smooth a politician as her husband. Doesn't anyone remember how Bill Clinton was referred to as "Slick Willie"?
George Bush is not a liberal and look what's he done to our country. He is a liar and is most deceptive. He and Dick Chaney have shamed this country in the worst way.
I'm not through, but I could go on and on. So, good-bye.

I agree with you totally.....but I can't stand either one.....
they are both perjurers, he was impeached cause he lied
under oath......she was a little more sneaky and wasn't
caught.
If that is the best candidate we can come up with out of
300 million. native born citizens, then we are in deep SSS t.
and now he is on the campaign trail with Hillary......that may
work against her....I hope.
