You know, after SRL avenged his defeat against Duran, then knocked out Thomas Hearns, I just don't see anyone other than Ray Robinson having a chance to best him.

Sugar Ray Leonard was obviously one of the great welterweight champions of all time. And as he left the division Donald Curry seemed poised to take his place among the greats, particularly after his 2nd round demolition of Milton McCrory. However, he was exposed by Lloyd Honeyghen, who stopped him in 6 rounds. He was never the same after that. Leonard by TKO in 8.

Lloyd Honeyghan put an end to the myth of Donald Curry and any aspirations he had of being an all-time great.
Three fights later, Mike McCallum sealed that deal when he stopped Curry in five. Leonard would have crushed him in six rounds or less.

Good matchup once again sir! This would make for a good fight as Curry had good speed and power and so did Leonard. Leonard also seemed to rise to the skill level of his opponents and would be ready mentally for a hard fight with Curry. I believe this would have made for a close fight mainly because of their styles with Leonard emerging with a close but unanimous decision.

This fight could go either one of two ways. One, Curry's defense could give Ray problems and Ray would have to edge out a decision win. Two, Curry being chinny, would get caught at some point in the middle rounds and get knocked out. I'm going with the latter option.

Leonard definitely... Curry's chin would be questionable in this bout. Leaonard would bang him in the later rounds, especially if this was scheduled for 15 rounds. Leonard by TKO in 13...

Mandrill My Man I watched the Cobra out of Paschal High school fight in the Golden Gloves state tourney here in Fort Worth Texas his counter punching ability and power had some kids afraid to throw. In response to your question I pick Don for pure power When he knocked out Milton Mccrory with a 8 inch left hook he laid on the canvas with his eyes rolled completely to the left and his legs twitched ......so many KOs are just a man staggering this was a complete scary dislocation of reality KO...... some day Ill tell you about the man who trained him and the conditions he was trained in. Thanx for recognizing one true , unappreiciated champion from my hometown Fort Worth Texas

I would certainly bet all the cash in my wallet that Leonard would defeat the Ft. Worth Cobra. I'm a Texan though so I wouldn't feel good about it.
