NO. Braces and some appliances move teeth thereby closing gaps. Retainers are worn after the braces or appliance come off to hold the teeth where they have been moved to. Thus a retainer RETAINS the teeth in their new position.

I found that the best way to close unwanted gaps is by porcelain veneers or bonding.

ask your dentist about what works best for u. Veneers are very expensive and bonding can be cheaper but needs maintenance every few years. I have bonding currently but I would like to get veneers eventually.
