Being possessive is thought by many to be love, and in some few case, where the other has lost their self esteem, it appears to be for them also.
You can lose your loved one very quickly by being possessive because you choke them to death.
Have you ever been somewhere that is so hot you want to rip your clothes off? You can't wait to get cool. It is stifling. The sweat is pouring down you. You burn from inside. You want to scream - and then - ahhhh, yes - a cool lake swim. What bliss to get free of the heat.
Well that's exactly how the one you possess feels. You are stifling your partner and they cannot wait to fling you away.
People that possess, don't love. They just want to own. Like some antique art - something to admire. Something only they have... and no one else shall have it.
The possessive person has an illness also. It is the lack of their own beauty - their own perfection, thus they must own someone else. They must own someone else so they can reflect their own emptiness in them. Possessiveness is emptiness.
You must face up to these qualities in yourself so that you do not drive the person you love away.
Of course there are many other reasons, such as boredom, unshared interests, and going in different directions, but these are all minor compared to the gross illness that one thinks is love.
So we now know that possessiveness is not love. It is grasping, stifling and suffocating. It is in fact just an ugly trait to have.
If you are possessive, you need to help yourself.

their own insecurity - trust issues all stem from feeling insecure...and technically possessive behavior is dangerous and illegal because it's dangerous.
