I don't try to sell anyone the gospel. I think that's uncalled for. It doesn't need selling.
I agree with others who have posted that Christianity is a sermon best lived. But if anyone asks a religious question, I would stop answering at the point where I felt it was doing more harm than good. Sometimes it brings up old wounds or fears that a person has, and proving my point or "being right" is not worth pressing them or making them feel cornered.
I realize the conversion of others is not about me. It's ultimately between them and God. If I can help, that's great. But it's not my place to coerce someone into belief.
He convinced against his will is of the same opinion still, as the saying goes....

I really believe that there comes a point where you have done all that you can....in other words you have planted the seed and you just have to let God water it. so basically do what you can and let God do the rest. But dont forget that the way you live your life is a big witness, so after all of the talking is done people are still watching your actions and your decisions. Your life is an open book....

Bettie, evangelism is really about going out to the harvest. It's about obedience to the call.
I have spent years praying for some folks. (thanks for reminding me to keep it up today). Some come around very soon, some take years and some have taken 2 decades with no result.
I believe you don't stop praying for a person until they're buried. Resurrections still happen! I just met a missionary who was involved with two just recently.
But, as for witnessing, I think you have to make your witness strong and compelling but understand that you can't argue anyone into the Kingdom. Your witness is your life; it's your words, it's your heart. You live it.
Tell them your passion for the kingdom when the right opportunities arise; but let your daily devotion to God be the witness.
I know a woman who tried arguing her Dad into heaven for 20 years. Finally, she resigned to "love him anyway" and in the last 6 months of his life, he came to faith in Christ.
Maybe loving them anyway is the first step we should take.
Keep praying.

Well, I try not to "evangelize," but as long as a person has questions, I'll continue to try to answer them. Even if they're asking the same questions over and over again.
I'm not implying anything here. You ask very interesting questions.

Once i have shared the gospel and answered any questions they had. Then, they know what they need to know and they have a choice to make. I can't make them make it and it's not my place to try. Conversion by coercion is not conversion IMO.

Umm, about 5 minutes after they have left. Did I mention I amuse myself (very dangerous)?

You are not responsible for their salvation. Just tell them the Gospel answer any questions they have. It is up to them at that point.

Actually, I use the St. Francis of Assisi method: "Preach the Gospel at all times...and - if necessary, I will use words"
