i work for a BIG insurance company taking auto claims...call your insurance company and file a claim...it is NOT too late...Unless you have a clause in your policy that you have to report the accident in a certain amount of time then you are good and they will take the claim from you...don't be scared...alot to the times what you can do is file a claim and if you dont have the $$$ for the deductible you can request the claim to be placed on hold while to save for the deductible...it is wise to call your insurance company...they are not the devil...i promise...~V

If you read your policy your answer will be found there. Every insurance CONTRACT says something different. Some say as soon as possible, others specifically give a time frame (7 days, 30 days). If your time line in your policy is vague, you better have a darn good excuse for WHY it took you 6 months to report the loss, and I doubt that 'i didn't think it would be so much to fix on my own' will cut the mustard. But file a claim and see. BTW...it's an at fault accident so be prepared for the rate increase if the claim is honored.

Go ahead and report the claim. if you don't, her attorney will because she will hire one. Your insurance company will investigate the incident. Their ability to do an investigation is hampered if you wait to long or she gets an attorney. So, call their 800 number now and report the claim. Their call center will be open today. Be sure to give them all the information you have to contact the lady.

The sooner the better.

Go to the police station and get a copy of the accident report.

Do it soon before your insurance company disallows it.
