My 2.5-year-old lab still squats to pee! He was neutered at 5 months old. Any chance he'll ever lift his leg?

Not saying I *want* him to lift his leg. I'm actually just asking because I'm curious :-)

mmm by noow probablly not- but you never know
but squatters are great in my books ( owning a dog who use to mark every side of any driveway we passed & 10 mins usually walks turned into 1 hour ones LOL)

He may get around to it yet. My male chihuahua was almost 4 before he discovered he could lift his leg. One of the females, on the other hand, has lifted HER leg since she was about 10 months old. Go figure!

If it's any consolation I have a 2 yr old Pitbull that just started to lift his leg like 4 months ago and he isn't fixed!

Leg lifting is a learned trait and your dog may discover it on its own. When exposed to other dogs it will learn fast. Neutering had nothing to do with it.

I have a 3 year old male dog who is fixed and he squats & hikes his leg a bit. He only goes in our backyard and we don't have trees so maybe that's why he didn't learn to hike his leg.

By that age he is set in his ways. Yes , he will always be a squatter. But does it really matter? If he is a good dog, I wouldn't care.

make sure you walk him around a fence or pole or somthing and maybe when he gets a little older itll kick in

maybe you fixed him too early?
