i just switched my dogs dogs food FROM NUTO TO CANIDAE AND I WAS CHECKING HIS STOOL FOR FIRMNESS TODAY, AND I NOTICED IT WAS DARKER THAN THE NUTRO STOOL, EITHER DARKER OR LIGHTER I DONT REMBER MY QUESTION IS WHAT IS BETTER DARK STOOL OR LIGHT STOOL THANKS U

I'm sure it is just from the food change. I also noticed a change in my 3 when I switched them to Solid Gold.

Neither is better or worse, as long as the stools are firm and not loose. It's just the difference in ingredients, that's all. Very dark, almost black, stools may indicate the presence of digested blood (although certain medications/treatments like pepto or activated charcoal can also cause the stools to be black), but other than that dark stools aren't bad or good.

It really has to do with the food ingredients. For example when I feed my dog chicken his poop is a yellowish color. When I feed beef his poop is dark brown in color

It doesn't really matter. Both are good foods. What I'd watch for is consistency ... which is much more important.

You should never judge the quality of a dog food by the color of the dog's excrement.

its all based on their diet, so it will change as their feeding patterns and food changes. If the stools get to blackish, its time to go the vet!
