The progress and advancement of world civilization, and the wonderful scientific discoveries made by man, had their root in the birth of a new religion and the energies released by them.
This has happened with all of the major known religions of the world and can be easily verified from historical books like "The story of Civilization" of Will Durant.
However just as every religion has a birth it has also a time of maturity in which it gives it's best fruits, an old age and an inevitable death.
When religion is no more a cause of love and unity and becomes a source of animosity, hatred and disunity between men, that religion is already dead.

No, God did not make religion. In every tradition of God/Goddess, almost each indicates that God gives the created free-will to do as they will.

Religion is created by man to define the experience of God. Some religions are crafted over centuries, some over decades, others over days. Some have millions of adherents, others have a handfull.

There is no way that the human experience can create the truth of God. We can only create what we think God is. Anyone who tells you differently has no real grasp of history or theology.

After all, each writing about God was written by humans. Humans have decided what words of God are true. Humans have decided what acts are needed to be a child of God. No matter what your faith, you have to come to the realization that religion is imperfect and that there isn't one that holds truth. They all hold man's perspective.

Oh dear this is a toughie

God (if he exists) might of made men but then men would not be perfect. So religion is essentially imperfect and other cultures probably had their own ideas on this.

Im not out to destroy religion, maybe there is one true religion, or one true God. But i find all the religions i have discovered has flaws. So essentially what im saying is that religion is imperfect as a whole.

If God made man and woman, and you use common sense and logic, with some reasoning, and I know you have all of these, without quoting the bible, then how did he do it. May God Bless you in seeking the truth.

PS. It is ironic that science can explain it where religion cannot.

No, PEOPLE created religion in order to express and further develop an understanding of that which they attribute to "God" or some other force. Or at the very least, to explain the world around them and offer explanations and plans for spiritual development.

in a basic way, i agree with you.

there is a verse in the bible, Acts 17:27, when Paul is preaching to people in Athens, where many learned people came together and talked of new ideas.

26From one man he made every nation of men, that they should inhabit the whole earth; and he determined the times set for them and the exact places where they should live. 27God did this so that men would seek him and perhaps reach out for him and find him, though he is not far from each one of us.

the way i see it, God gave us free will. he made us the way we are, to decide for ourselves what is "good" and "bad". this is something that i find truly Amazing, and i am quite thankful for. how would YOU put a group of specimens together in one place? what kind of qualities and attributes would YOU design for a human?

i think what God did, and what he created for us, was the best possible thing ever. we have the ability to work hard, and make something of ourselves. yes, there are many bad people out there, corrupt nations, poverty, etc..but those are results of having all of us people here on earth populating and creating societies.

for example, if u had an ant farm... and u saw them killing and eating another ant. what would u do? u'd probably watch in fascination.. unless u went and literally took that ONE ant out and let it live alone..u know what i mean? it is the ANTS who live out their lives, apart from a bigger person "watching" them. you have control to kill all these ants, but instead u merely watch them live out their lives. but the best thing is, God did not make us ants. he made us Humans, which are capable of using our large brains, of loving, of feeling, of doing good things. we are also capable otherwise, but again, how would u Design a person? wouldn't u give them as much power and free will as possible? if they were "perfect" and "blemish free", u'd certainly have no reason to have religion, or free will.

anyways, i hope we all realize that seeking what is Good, Positive, Healthy, Right and Wise is more important than "being a christian" or "being an athiest" and trying to prove each other wrong. boy are we missing the fundamental principles of Humanity when we try to bulldoze each other to the ground..

I am non religious , religions worry me. I think most trouble comes from religion.

For example moving millions of Muslims into the west before they have built Islam into a great place to live was a mistake

a christian object to putting anything above GOD
we further believe that Christ is GOD
to put anything before Christ is a really bad idea
we want the world to understand why
man creates religion GOD came as a nazarene
and we killed HIM and for three days
all of creation cried hope grace love mercy gone
but HE rose and offered salvation
not at the point of a sword a free and simple offer
then one day HE flew away up away

God made us and commanded us to worship him. Then different people came up with different ways of expressing their worship and thats how religion was born. There is only one kind of worship that God desires and that is to be worshipped in Truth and in Spirit. If everyone went back to that basic, then we would not have religion. Just pure worship.
