so everytime my printer runs out of paper i crash to the command prompt.....

i then have to do the fsck /dev/hda1 -y thing to get it running agian...

any clues?

it seems that your printer driver will send a warning if your printer run out of papper..

since you run linux OS, maybe it doesn't support what your printer driver do..

instead of creating warning box, it'll run terminal, and you have to answer "yes" to continue (that's the -y means)

Buggy printer driver module, there somewhere should be the phrase "Segmentation Fault".

What's it got to do with fsck command? You said crashing to command line not the whole computer... just startx to restart X Windows.
