Especially in this section I wear my thumbs down as a medal.
Christians seem to memorize the people who aren't labelling themselves as just that.
Either that or they just assume that no one but christians can answer questions in this category, like christianity isn't what turned a lot of us to NOT believe in the first place.

Not really. It usually will bug me when I get a number of thumbs-down, as I like getting thumbs-up because I usually will dedicate at least a few minutes to trying to write out an answer to actually help a person (keyword: usually). There are those occasions where I've given short answers and felt that it was all that was needed and also some times where I've given answers and expected to get thumbs-down because I was answering something where I disagreed with the initial question in some way already, but then it's a different and less common situation.

Depends on what the question was asking, and what the content of my answer was.
If I'm answering a question on some item of dogma, and pointing out that there's no evidence to support the question's assertions, then I often feel a sense of satisfaction over the Thumbs Downs. Same goes for many evolution/Creationist questions, although usually I get way more Thumbs Up than Down for those.
However when I answer a question with a factual, correct summation that fully answers the question, and I get a Thumbs Down, then I don't appreciate it nearly as much. My thought is usually more like "Hey! Why would anyone Thumbs Down that answer??" and I usually figure that whoever did it was just a jerk.

lol 50/50. Sometimes I feel like rebel and sometimes I feel just hated on which makes me mad than wonder if I was too harsh, mean, or wrong and/or too literal in my answer... My main reason to give a thumb down is, whether I agree with the answer or not, I just feel the answer is ambiguous and too vague. It pisses me off because I feel that most people deserve an answer with good thought and "serious concentration".

I only give a thumbs down when people spam or don't give detailed answers to questions or just completely go off topic.

I know what you mean! Ususally, the answers that get the most thumbs down are the ones which are factually correct, but go against someone else's views or beliefs. It's like the saying "I've already made up my mind. Don't confuse me with the facts."
I only give thumbs down to answers that are factually incorrect. The really mean ones, the hateful ones, I report.

I'm a fan of thumbs down, too. Getting them doesn't bother me as much as not getting them, but I'm so often at the bottom of most lists of answers I think that I seldom ever get read by more than the most conscientious R/S user.
About giving thumbs: My rules co-inside pretty much with yours, and I sometimes give the thumbs-down to smart-*** responders who didn't bother to attempt answering the question at all - I mean what's the point in that?

I think its funny especially when you know its atheists mad because you answered a Christian question.
When atheists insist on answering a question they have no clue about that a Christian asks and then give the Christians thumbs down, I get a chuckle.

The only reason i put thumbs down is if their answer is totally ignorant and ubsurd, like just answering for points. But people are up for their oppinions, right, thats what this is all about.
