We are going to NYC later this week for a visit. We would appreciate recommendations for a good pizza place and a good bagel place in Manhattan.

My favorite bagels are at Murray's Bagels in Greenwich Village on Sixth Avenue and 13th Street. Excellent pizza in the Village at Joe's on Carmine and Bleecker. Lombardi's on Spring Street in Soho has good pizza, but, they don't sell by the slice, you have to get a whole pie.
The best pizza in New York is in Brooklyn, not Manhattan - DeFara's; Totonno's; Spumoni Gardens

Being a tourist, I've been to Patsy's and Grimaldi's. I prefered Grimaldi's even though we had to wait on the sidewalk to get in. They are one of the few remaining places with a coal fired oven which is significantly hotter that other ovens.
As for bagels, I've had the bialys at Kosar's which are reputed to be the best in the city. I would agree that they were damn fine bialys.

all the pizza and bagel places in brrooklyn are good, so im guessing manhattan would be no different lol

Dont buy Bagles in Manhattan, go to Queens. But for Pizza stay in the city.

Good bagels -- Zaro's -- Many locations Citibagel 30th and Third
Pizza -- John's, Joe's (not on the corner of Bleeker and Carmine anymore -- its on Carmine in the middle of the Block), Arturo's. (Yeah there are pizza places everywhere but quality varies).
